That would be cool if they listened to your request for the update. I'd def buy it with a full squeeze.

I hope they can make it happen too. But as it stands now, it is still so much better than an uncorrected 16x9 image. Plus the 1:1 zoom is crucial for finding focus with the Lomo's on the AF100. Here's what you get with the current firmware;

Also, you can stretch out the video horizontally too, so if you shoot a circular reference and do some math you could get a correctly unsqueezed image that was cropped on the sides to 3:1... I just haven't had the time to sort out the exact numbers yet.

Hmm, not bad at all. Yeah, I need some focus assist, I don't trust the lens markings. Thanks for sharing the pic!

Just got my DP6 today! Planning to definitely use the crop features (maybe translucent/bracket markers in addition to solid black bars would make for a nice feature). If anyone's already ran some tests and know the figures for 2.35 on a 7d, that would help :)

Still have to swag a couple accessories, so thanks for the promo!

I have an HPX170 and plan on taking advantage of this great group buy. Besides batteries, what do people consider the "must have" accessories to get with an initial order?

Heero: Thank you so much for organizing this groupbuy and thanks goes out to the team at Small HD as well! I have questions regarding a few of the accessories however before placing my order. My first question is concerning the strongarm. I plan not to use the shoe mount and use the 1/4 20 instead. For those who have this specific arm, does the monitor stay rock solid with absolutely no movement when taking rigorous run and gun hand held action? Or are there better/cheaper options? My second question concerns the battery pack options. I noticed there are new Panasonic as well as Sony packs now being offered along w/ the already selling Canon ones. In the spec area, the Panasonic I believe, says up to 12hrs of power depending on the type of Panasonic battery used. The specs on the Sony pack though, are more vague, saying only that it depends on the sony batteries used without any info of the battery power durations. I'm wondering for power, is the sony or panasonic better? No matter which pack I choose however, can you recharge the batteries from the battery packs themselves? If not, I might go with the Canon pack just because I already have the charger that came w/ my 5d. My final question is in relation to the small hd suncover and the acrylic screen protector. First, will the suncover still mount on the small hd dp6 w/ the acrylic protector on the unit? For those who have used both, how does it compare to the hoodman? I'm sorry for asking all these questions, but money is really tight right now and I've been putting off getting the smallhd until economically I'm a bit better off, but by chance, came across this thread which compels me to live off peanut butter and jelly to take part in this great deal.

I think I can answer a few questions, although I would recommend emailing smallHD, they have AMAZING customer service.

1) I use both the acrylic protector AND the sun hood together. I find the sun hood great. It might be a little tricky the first time you use it to get it on, but after that, you know how and it is great.

2) I don't believe you can charge the batteries from the battery adapter. All it does is allow you to connect batteries to it and then connect cable into the LCD power. You'll still need to use whatever adapter to charge that you use now.

Thanks Rick for your quick response. Good to know that I will need my own charger. As the SmallHD website says, "up to 12 hours on two panasonic batteries," is quite tempting. I really do think the sunshade looks nice. Not too sure about the acrylic protector though. Every write-up or pic I have ever seen on the net, doesn't show the user using the acrylic protector. Not to mention, I have never used acrylic before to protect anything else (e.g.: macbookpro, etc...). I'm trying to keep the cost down as low as possible, brainstorming what I can use as a suitable arm that is still bullet proof, since I do not necessarily need one of much length, perhaps 4 to 5 inches. I def should get the power bracket though, unless those made in china 12v non-branded ones on ebay that some peeps have used w/ not as nice monitors such as the lilliput, may possibly work?? Never-the-less, I'm going to make the order tomorrow and will give today my best efforts at researching the subject as well as checking back on this thread for possible new leads. Many thanks again Rick!

I have the strong arm and use it on the 1/4 thread towards front of handle. I use a small crescent wrench to tighten the arm to AF100. The strong arm uses one knob to tighten all joints once you have it in the position you want....so far tight with no problems and have been using since middle of December.

Mine arrives today! Thanks for putting this together! Saved me some money! Does anyone think that a firmware update could allow for hdmi to sdi out like the tvlogic? Or is that a hardware wiring thing?

All the smallHD users I have seen use the acrylic protector. Given how cheap it is, I really find it is VERY MUCH worth it. It's so small of a footprint, you probably don't realize it is on there. It's also already saved my LCD a few times when I didn't have my sunshade on and I smacked the face on something.
