DVXUser, a few very active

And here I was thinking how much of a nerd I am...there's some people out there who have me beat like a cheap hooker. It's third page for me.

Perhaps my joke was too subtle in my previous post.

EDIT: and ON CUE... my point is made perfectly. :)

I think they instated the minimum 4 characters long rule after Brandon's first coming as the postinator... it's ironic that after about 8K posts or so... he was born again... and I'm not kidding on this one... and it IS a compliment.

It's funny I've been on here almost everyday of my life since 2005 and haven't hit the 1000 post mark yet. I think I'm very picky about what I post in...I don't have a lot of "woah cool dude!" or "yea, thats retarded." posts...the 3-4 word ones that normally don't mean much. I think there is lots of "thanks, dude" posts lingering around racking up statistics for folks here lol.

Ah well...haha. Only 200-300 posts to go or so. :)

I belong to another forum, which isn't film related, where a couple of younger guys seem to think that post count is a status symbol. They create post after post and meaningless thread after thread about nothing just to get their post counts up. alleast I know now that somone out there has even less of a life than me.
Concerning this awesome site, I am a newer member who tries to be active. Frankly I'm a bit on the shy side and not too confident of my own abilities so I generally will read and try to learn from the more esteemed members here. I try to make sure that what I post is at least somewhat meaningful and adds to the discussion. It doesn't always work that way but I'm trying.

That's why you can't trust the post count of all those folks on the first page. We try to de-emphasize the importance of it, which makes messing with people's post counts a naughty joy similar to messing with their custom titles :)

The most prolific poster for the longest time (and if I"m not mistaken the first to reach 10k) was Hudson.

Now, he is 2nd after Barry Green. Those are the genuine top two posters. David rounding out the non-altered top 3 :)

Later,
Jason

Its been ages since I've looked at my post count;

"Its not the size of your posts, its what you do with it that counts"

{Insert Witty Remark v1.3 '/' error pasing on line: 102}

1,133 posts. That's a lot more than I thought I had. But it's still not much, since I've been here for three years. I'm pretty selective about what I say, as I am in real life. I guess I'm a quality over quantity kind of guy.

I was surprised my post count was so high (1,600+) given the fact that I really don't know anything.

I find it funny that this thread was started today because yesterday I noticed how low the number of online users is compared to the number of registered users (and online users over at REDuser - yes, the Penguin has been there too). I know post count is not some sort of status symbol, but I check it often to ensure that I don't miss milestones (by the way, what is the custom/tradition for the 5,000th post?)

This is post 2,895 for me. I have nearly 2/10 (or 1/5) of 1% of the posts. I realize that most of my posts are simply for entertainment value, but I will have you know that I DO contribute sometimes. In fact, to prove this, I went into the archives and found an old post by Jason about me and my posting habits:

And, yes... Penguin. It is possible to post too much. Ask Brice. Ask Como. So far, though... your posting habits (albeit frequent) have not sparked any conversations in the mod section:) Your enthusiasm and positive attitude and being able to roll with the punches is fairly refreshing, and though you are silly as hell, I find you more and more getting involved in the community... i.e. offering up your scripts, etc, etc... That is good. Your posting style is not like that of Briceman of yesteryear, or como of yesterday, so you are cool.... for now :evil: It's not as much about posting frequency as it is the content of posts, and blatant disregard for guidelines, one word replies back to back to back, etc.

:)
