dvx100 stolen from me

Honestly, I'm going to agree with the repo man idea. Get a repo man to get your camera back or something of equal value and call it a day. i dare this guy to connect it to you or even call the cops.

This is so sick. I guess I'm naive. I can't believe that someone can commit a crime, and absolutely nobody will do anything about it. That's like... lawless anarchy... are we living in a country of laws, or is all this just a giant fiction held together by faith and hope?

Of course, when I thought about it a bit more, it is clear that these crooks gave a lot of thought to how to pull off this scam. If there are no witnesses to the transaction, it's your word against theirs. How is that going to fly in court? I mean, the crooks will claim you're just picking on random people. It's possible that by now they've long since gotten rid of the stolen property, and there goes the evidence. Of course, had if the police done their job, they'd investigate these guys up the wazoo, do papertrails and so on, and probably could unravel it. But then again - from the point of view of the cops, why should they investigate... on the sayso of some random guy? There are crazy people claiming their neighbors are crooks/mafia/terrorists etc. all the time. You gotta have probable cause to investigate a PARTICULAR person(s). And maybe what you got just ain't enough, due to how the crooks set up this whole scam. I mean, imagine someone claimed something bogus about you, would you expect the cops to launch a disruptive investigation of your life, turning your whole life upside down (this is what it would take to unravel a clever fast moving scam, where they get rid of evidence fast).

In the end, it just sux. I've seen stuff like this all around. Bigger and smaller. I save money, deny myself things just so I can legally buy equipment and software. Guess what? I'm regarded as an idiot. One guy I know laughed so hard he practically fell off a chair when he heard I bought *all* my software. He goes "haven't you heard of bittorrent"? Well I have, but I don't think it's right, so I don't do it. I bet you anything, that quite a few folks out there think nothing of scamming for equipment, and laugh hard at idiots like me who buy all their stuff legally.

What else is new... bad guys laughing all the way to the bank, and anybody honest is regarded with contempt as a "loser". You'd think it would be in the interest of society to promote good ethics, but noooo. Yeah, I'm bitter :)

SUCKS! Man, that S-U-C-K-S!

It is mindblowing that you can have all of this information on the guy who is obviously a ringmaster of this crime and cannot get the attention of any of the authorities. What that f*ck is their problem!?

I hope you make out. I have read this whole thread and I believe that you should start the small claim's legal process and contact the media.

There is a HUGE problem in our world with these counterfeiters and you seem to have a lot of info on them. I cannot see how someone in the media wouldn't like a piece of this story.

As much as the inside of me would opt for the "burning down their house and breaking their face" routine, I would take the longer route.

It just sucks for you. DON'T COUNT YOUR LOSSES and do nothing (as suggested by some). I know that I couldn't.

Good luck to you man.
