I agree with everything written here. It's good advice. You say you already tried and the police said it wasn't thier problem because it's not in thier jurisdiction, well call the preceinct whose jurisdiction it is in. Keep calling till everyone there knows your name. Be polite, but persistent.

The POLICE who's jurisdiction it falls on are as capable as the MAYBERRY police from andy griffith. I swear i would chose BARNEY PHIFFE over the police in my area.

Honestly....and not to be joking around...but Barney would not stand for a stolen camera. He would get pissed if he saw a schoolgirl stealing apples....

The lack of response from the authorities is shocking.

How about this: a bunch of us armed with our DVXs go with you to his house. Invite the police jsut for good measure. You knock on the door and say "Give me my f***ing camera back you f***head or your going to be all over the 9 o'clock news! errr... well... You'll be all over the Internet!" Maybe then you call 911 and report the theft and see if we can get an emergency response.

Either that or plaster every single detail of the person on all the sites he is trying to sell on as a warning.

Why don't you call anonomously and say you heard screams from within the premises (don't use your cell phone) and you think someone is being beaten.

From what I read earlier the scum has already turned around and sold his camera. So in fact it should really be "Give me my f***ing $2700" !

I'm a Tennessee attorney so I can't advise you on the law in your state, but in Tennessee, it's a little known fact that a citizen can go to the grand jury when it meets, present his evidence, and seek an indictment which, if issued, is just as valid as an indictment obtained by the district attorney. Also, if the postal system was used in any way to effect a fraudulent scheme, that's mail fraud, a serious federal offense. (See "The Firm") Sorry for your misfortune.

It was done in person. I would love to nail him with anything but this asshole has been getting away with it for years. Tomorrow i am going to kinkos and blowing up real big posters of his crime offenses and putting a big arrow pointing to his house. So his neighbors know they are living next to criminals.

This jerk off even deals SO CALLED with the GOSPEL

sorry about your situation...

If that guy were in Cambodia, his hands would be chopped off! With anything I buy, I always do it in person or order from a big company. I'll have my thug friends with me as well with any transaction. sounds mafia...

Good luck with getting your money back. I personally would of kicked his ass then buried his ass alive. But of course, violence solves nothing/.

Be sure to put it on the web as well... especially in places like dvxuser, eBay, Craigslist, etc. It sounds like yours is not the first DVX he has taken without paying. Heck, you should even let Panasonic know this guy is effectively stealing DVX cameras.

Its important that not only his neighbors know about him but also his next potential victims. I don't think there is any harm in you reporting his crime online as long as you report the facts.

I dont think i cant go through that long legal process. i need it dealt with now

Dude, you cant ask for advice and then deny it. That may be your only option, if nobody else will help.

Right, if you don't want to wait for the legal repercussions of the event, you may need to consider something "below the belt."

I dont want to sound ungrateful. In everyones advise should I take this to small claims court?

Take into consideration they might find holes in my evidence. I have sone strong cases where they have solid evidence and they still manage to find problems with it.

You won't know if you don't try.

There has been some great advice on here for you. Particularly getting a lein on his property. When he finds that out, he might very well want to pay you.

Not to be rude at all... but you just seem like you are approaching this with a bit of a defeatest attitude. You gotta be a tiger... rarrgh. Bang down, flip it & reverse it.
Make him the prey and you the predator.
Make sure you got solid documentation of your story, let everyone, everywhere and their mother know. Spread the word (but make sure you got the documentation to back it up). The find continue your pursuit with the police, and document their lack of help. Get the word out. On the net, and get it out locally.

Since you are all knowledgable people what can you tell me about getting a "lien' on his property. How does that work?

A few pages back, somebody mentioned it. Don't remember exactly but it had to do with taking him to small claims. he does or doesn't show up. If he doesn't you pretty much automatically win. Either way, if you win and he doesn't pay you can then get a lein on his property. Check back a few pages, somebody described it very well.

Can you believe it CHECK FRAUD is small potatoes to them./QUOTE]

Sorry to here your misfortune. I had a boss who had a business account and someone in the office of the business he buys supplies from passed his account and personal information onto a family member who stole $1800 out of the account.

He did some investigating and found the person that stole the money. He went to his bank and passed the information along, and they said they would not do anything about it. Anything under $10k to them is not worth tracking!!!!

The bank replaced the $1800 stolen, and he opened a new account. He spent a ton of time resolving the issue and was never reimbursed for his time. The person that relayed the information was still working at the supply wearhouse and I think he passed the information onto the business manager.

In Africa people use mob justice. You still from them and they cut your finger off.

We should get a bunch of DVX users to go to his house with chains and bats.

One more thing...if he has done this before he most likey already has leins if he owns the place. You need to get a first position lein which means you get paid even before the IRS if the house gets sold at foreclosure. I'll talk to my bro about this..he used to buy foreclosures and he knows the loopholes to get 1st position.

Here is how you get into his house:
