Driftwood Quantum Series: **New Releases** Orion, Rocket and β Pictoris

Alright, so i've loaded V4B on my camera. I see no change in image between my quantum V2 and this new V4B. All those matrix settings has not seemed to affect the image in the slightest ( i did side by side comparisons )

HBR mode just appeared in my options, is this for AVC intra 1080P30? I'm trying to make sense of these settings:

720p30 width=1920
720p30 height=1080
480p30 width=1280
480p30 height=720

Is this the HBR mode? how do you access these? I am assuming this is how I'm getting HBR 30 FPS at 1080P.

HBR mode is put there by Panasonic when you updated to 1.1 firmware it is (if you are NTSC) a 29.97 1920X1080 wrapped in a interlaced wrapper so no not 1080p.

A concise guide to AVCHD for the GH2/GF2, ptools and its settings and to the settings by myself (and morer than likely lpowell and others) will be made available when I can finish it. I'm rather busy rushing backwards and forwards to hospital for my daughter, work and other matters to spend real concentrated time getting it done sooner. But rest assured it will be done. Happyness comes greater with patience.

I know that V4B shoots at the same 154MBps as Quantum V2, but i experienced my first stop recording today. Never had this issue before. Does this patch require somethign new or stronger in terms of card even though the bitrate is identical?

Thanks again for your leadership in all this. I hope and pray the daughter is ok. (first I have read of circumstances)

Also, Driftwood is planning to use the audio settings in the "Pasadena Pulse Audio V2 Beta 1" that I sent him (which are the same as those used in Beta 2 that I posted in my site, which address descriptive issues only).

Help, Need some ProRes advice with these higher bitrate patches.
Yo, this is a little off topic... since im asking more of a "post process" thingy then an actual patch issue.
Currently, most of my workflow has been encoding my GH2 footy into one of the ProRes flavors... yes i work in Premier and sometimes..painfully in FCPX. But im still a FCP 7 fan boy most of the time... plus i have thousands of plug'ins/$$ i use still in FCP7.
http://documentation.apple.com/en/f...ws/index.html#chapter=10&section=4&tasks=true
So with this new patches out... can someone please lay out the "choice" ProRes flavor to use, with a certain/specific patches.

i.e: "Driftwood Quantum X Settings"
Driftwood 'Cluster' v1 : 36-72mb - ProRes 422 LT
'β Pictoris' (baby Quantum X) VBR & CBR 35-75mb/75mb - ProRes 422
Quantum X (v4b Orion) - etc
...etc...etc...etc.

Basically, I have a pretty decent idea of the quality... just need some people to help me verify my thoughts, as well as help maybe others.
This could be said about most patches as well, just im currently using testing out some of Driftwood's wonderful patches.

Using v4b orion...after spanning a file (which no longer plays back in camera), I cannot record anymore. Get error "cannot record, maximum file number reached), even though only 30-something files, and about 30GB used. Using 64 gb Sandisk extreme 95mb/s card. Formatted (in camera) and tried again several times, sometimes it can span 2-3 times before getting the error (but always happens before even reaching half capacity of sd card).

Never had this issue with any other driftwood hacks (all others worked perfectly, spanned, played back in cam, no errors). Also in 720p60, crashes after 9-10 seconds...other hacks lasted about 20-30 seconds and hardly ever crashed as I didn't have a need to record longer, but 10 seconds isn't much.

Using 12mm f2 olympus (same exact problem with "shoot without lens" enabled).

I also used to run the GH2 with V4B Orion and everything was nice. All of a sudden 720 50/60p records at a very variable bitrate, often it was somewhere about 10.000 kb/s (used to be around 60.000 kb/s).

Tried everything you can imagine, and now I am running Dark Matter V3, it works as it should, and is much more stable that Orion V4b..

Is there a spec comparison between dark matter v3, orion v4b, and sedna?

are people using SD Class 10 45MB/s successfully? Dohn't know if i want to fork out the cash for the 95's. right now my 30's stop recording sometimes with V4b

How often does it stop recording? I have the Sandisk class 10 30mb card as well and wondering if it will work.

Hey guys, new to the gh2 forum, mine is in the mail on it's way to me. I'd like to use the new Sedna hack by driftwood in the top of this thread, but can't find its bitrate anywhere?

do you set it within ptools? Please help a hack newbie here :)

also, what in the world does "Two packs;- one pack set on AQ1, the other Q20." mean?

Thank you in advance :)
