As you've no doubt concluded, that kind of detailed technical information is intended for people who enjoy trying out and testing experimental hacks. They look forward to the next version, as it gives them an opportunity compare and contrast a wide variety of potential solutions. Many of the most diligent hack testers have made important discoveries and gone on to develop their own patch variations.
That level of involvement requires a serious time commitment to absorbing information and testing results. Since that kind of project doesn't appeal to you, I'd humbly suggest clicking on the link in my signature below, and trying out my GH2 Flow Motion patch. It will take you to a single post that contains all the information you need to know to install and use it. This patch is designed to be failsafe rather than experimental, and has been stress-tested in all NTSC and PAL video modes. If you want to read further, I've provided a variety of video samples, with downloadable original GH2 MTS files. In my experience, this is about as user-friendly as hacking your camera is going to get, and you are always welcome to come back and report your results or ask for clarification on any of the details.
Exactly the kind of post that makes me embarrassed to be part of online communities sometimes.
I've put an accumulative total of DAYS into following and testing these hacks, but I still appreciate when an effort is made to state the main advantages of a hack in laymans terms.
No, I don't like it either when someone demands hand-holding when they arrive on the scene - I believe everyone should do their own homework.
But this is not what this is about. It's about sharing the wealth of information and experience - discussing each patch and highlighting what it does compared to others. Instead, certain people childishly play their cards close to their chest and fling out 'noob' insults to anyone who dares want to join in on your secret hobby.
There's a middle ground to be found here. This is supposed to be a collaborative community.
Bob, I salute your willingness to tolerate an entitlement mentality. Jimmy Korea was the only persistent voice in the thread by the time I jumped in, but my comments were also directed at several of the early commenters who also expressed dissatisfaction for the manner in which a free lunch was delivered to them.
The admonition to lead, follow or get out of the way puts you on the surest path to realize what you really want to accomplish. Thank goodness people like Vitaly and Driftwood lead in a way that benefits so many.
You seem to think it belongs to you and should be kept a secret. Good for you.
Please do not disturb my inner tranquility again by requesting that Driftwood or other people working on this incredible and free hack, devote time to dumbing it down for the WYSIWYG drag and drop drones of the world. There is no conspiracy to withhold this hack from the unwashed masses. Instead, you've conspired against yourself by expecting simplicity at every turn.
No more personal attacks. Keep things civil otherwise time outs are in order. Final warning.
Agreed. This thread should be about the new patches mentioned in the original post. Now that Driftwood kindly edited his post with simple explanations of what each patch does, there's no need to keep beating the dead horse.I would advise deleting all these posts. They detract from the subject matter
Wait... what's Orion Dark Matter (V4C.3)?!?!Trying out Orion Dark matter (V4C.3) right now.
Hahaha. Just released. It's a patch for lowlight shooting.
After trying it, I'm gonna stick to V4. Not sure what it's doing but my eyes appreciate V4 a bit more.
Trying the latest rocket. Looks great. Recomendations for slow-mo (patches + settings) ?
I tested Flow Motion v1.11 to work reliably with any Class 10 SD card. I've also found fast Class 6 cards, like the Transcend 16GB, to work reliably as well....are Panasonic Golds compatible with the higher 1.1 patches, or just the SanDisk Ex?
