FEATURE: "DOWN AND DANGEROUS" - new update, one year later.

That's the best kickstarter video I've seen. You come across very genuine and professional and not all Douchey like most kickstarter vids. Good luck with the project. I'll be donating some bills.

Here is a glimpse at Paulie's screen test (improv) and a clip from the short that first got my attention.

Ha! Thank you. I appreciate that.

Had a few new contributions and some existing backers that substantially raised their pledges to push us past the 50% funded mark today. Never, ever, in my wildest expectations did i think we'd get this far along in 8 days.

You've got it singing pretty good. Lighting is badass.

As Doug Spice would say, "That looks creamy."

:) Thanks, went for the Rembrandt Portrait style lighting on Paulie where the nose shadow connects to the cheek shadow resulting in a triangular patch of light under the eye.

Sheesh Zak, looks like you've found 78 backers since I signed on. This project is seriously going viral!

It's definitely spread beyond my immediate circle. People I don't know have been coming in and contributing at all levels. We've got you as an executive producer and three people who I don't know at the associate producer level. I did not expect to have so many pledges with quadruple digits.

On this graph you can see where we started to slow down after the first three or four days. But even our "middle lull" has had a nice pace averaging $500 a day. And you can see the increase in pledges at the halfway point as we rallied and campaigned to hit that milestone. Also like seeing how far we've come vs how much time is left in the campaign. Feeling optimistic. Cautiously optimistic.

Might have said this earlier but it was reinforced today. I considered dropping the Associate Producer and Executive Producer credits as perks because I wasn't convinced people would donate for that. But i kept them and today @tearsinrain78 tweeted...

"Slept on it and decided I would regret not being an associate producer on this visionary film. So upped my $."

He raised his pledge to $1,000.

Put my new credit card to good use and brought you a step closer :D This is looking really good! You've got brilliant actors already.

Extrapolating your current trendline says you make your goal with about a week to spare. Realistically you'll probably do much better than that because most projects see an influx once they reach 75-90%.

I'll chip in next week!

I'm loving all the updates to the project, especially the casting reels. It's great to see how this is coming along.

When are you planning for production?

No way! AP and EP are becoming stronger pledges by the project. Those are absolute musts, although I think limiting them to a certain amount (2~4 AP and 1 EP) is a good idea.

Man... I am writing too slow ... ugh

Thanked you on facebook but I'll do it again here... Thanks, Simon. It really does mean a lot to have the backing of fellow dvxusers.

Have two more $1000 donors John T. Woods and I have been talking to in the background. One wanted a signed agreement regarding the Associate Producer credit because they had been burned in the past. I know bad things do happen to good people but it's also a bit of a red flag. Someone who finds themselves in disputes of this nature may very well be bringing upon themselves. So the agreement is written to cover all the bases.

Thanks Arthur. Schedule is pencilled in for October, however I have a bid out to DP a zombie movie in early October and if they go for what I'm asking, I'll happily take their money and funnel it into Down and Dangerous as well. But that would mean shooting in November instead.

Setting a limit is an interesting idea... creating a feeling of scarcity around them.

Cool chart! I've been following your progress and I'm super excited for you! It seems like with Kickstarter the rate of donation always increases at the end as well. Maybe you'll have some extra cash to treat your crew to some Starbucks. :)

Every time I think I have this figured out, I'm proven wrong. My wife must think I'm an idiot by now. Last Saturday was a very slow day for us. So I figured, today will probably not be so great but we'll bounce back Sunday. Well... today we were hit with $1,180 in contributions and are less than $150 from $18,000 as of this moment. Wanted to give a big thanks to MentaDUKE for being a part of that! Could not have done this without all the amazing support of fellow dvxusers.

Zak, you're a class act. Can't wait to see Sabi's take on a genre film. Loving the updates so far. That lead actress is captivating.

Known Zak for a couple of years now, and he continues to blow me away with every new project. Good luck with the rest of your campaign sir!
