Doubleclutch MV

Re: Doubleclutch MV

its a competitor to the steadicam... odds are if it ends in cam and sounds snappy it is a steadicam look alike... glidecam.. magicam..flowcam..

Re: Doubleclutch MV

Looking back a couple things I would have changed for this shoot, anamorphic adapters wrather than cropping, Would have been nice to have some HMIs to use for fill lighting as we were constantly battling the washed out sky and buildings in the background.  And a dolly would have been awesome, but we make due where we can.

As for cuts we are almost 100% locked down now, still some timing to be tweaked and possible shots to be swapped, but its very close to finished, then we turn it into a commercial :P

As for the rising shot we have a crane with a pivoting head (though only up and down, dont have multiple axis's unfortunatly) so it was pretty easy to do and very effective.

When I get into the office I will post some screen shots of the raw footage so you can see just how much of this was actually post work.

Re: Doubleclutch MV

The only thing I would've added would have been more shots of the band members' faces.  If I remember correctly, this MV was intended to be in actuality a commercial promoting the band and a sponsoring company, hence it was a marketing video.  One of the most important things to get people to connect with a band (and thus buy their CD/DVD/Action figure) is to be able to become familiar with them (especially their faces).  This is especially important for new/emerging bands.  It's unfortunate but true, but coverage of primarily the lead singer is very important, which you guys got enough of.

Otherwise, very nice!  Can't wait to see it on TV!

Re: Doubleclutch MV

Good point Jive and something to think about next time (when we shoot the new Janes Addiction video)

Re: Doubleclutch MV

Looks awesome!!! Great job.. Mind if I asked what you used to encode for web view? And what editing program was used?

Once again great job

Re: Doubleclutch MV

LOL@Dan...yeah...you're getting the idea. ;D

Emosia...Shawn used Compressor (packaged w/FCP4) to encode the clip.

John...I think we'll pass on the Janes Addiction gig. Perry hasn't had a song I liked since he sang with Diamanda Galas on the Born Killers soundtrack. :P

As far as this video goes, Shawn has begun to tighten it up, improve the pace in some of the areas mentioned, and we'll fix the repeating crane shots towards the end. Thanks everyone for the input.

Re: Doubleclutch MV

I liked the shutter speed look, I liked the hand held shot where u just see the dudes jumpin around, looks kinda cool...

All I have to say is I feel bad for the guy who had to edit this, must have had to heard that song at least 50 times... Id go nuts...

Ne ways not that my opinion matters but I think you should add a blue tint to it.

Good job.

Re: Doubleclutch MV

oooh! nice looking stuff!
great to see some cooperation of the dvxuser.com members.. congratulations!

Re: Doubleclutch MV

hey congrats guys! looks good. i was really hoping for a shot where they stage dived off the roof into a big marshmallow though. ha. but it really did look good . some good motion to the shots, and even without the audio the production seemed to move a a good pacing. so cheers to the editor as well.

Re: Doubleclutch MV

yeah.. would be nice to of seen a wider establishing shot, to sense the location and how high they where. Maybe a shot from another roof top or something.. but that is a big pain in the ass.

Re: Doubleclutch MV

Nice work. Very compelling imagery. The band has good stage presence.

What's fascinating to me about this video is that we are planning on using similar camera settings for a music video we're shooting next week, but we'll be going with heavy desaturation, or black and white. Thanks for posting the info about your settings, confirms what we were kind of planning to do!

Re: Doubleclutch MV
