Does a Fast Wide Angle Lens Exist????

Not that I've ever heard of.

Closest thing I could suggest is the Tokina 11-16 @ f/2.8, or if you can handle going a little less wide the Sigma 20mm f/1.8.

You really don't see fast ultrawides in cinema. I can't remember the last time I saw a shot that had a FOV wider than say 90 degrees.

Vision you may need to start developing your own lenses lol.

Ha!!

Seriously though it's not like a life or death situation, just that I don't understand why. I once rented a 14mm 2.8 by Canon and thought the lens was simply amazing, but I would have loved to have it in the 1.8 - 2.0 range

Does it exist in the Cinema land, if not then why? I have needed a fast wide lens and would like to know why they do not exist?

Because in cinema setups they employ proper lighting so fast lenses are not a necessity. They also don't use super-wide lenses because they are not flattering for shots of people. Also, unlike most of us, they do not need to try and fit the camera into small rooms/locations like we often do - instead they build a room/set to fit the camera (and the lights, and the grip truck, and the crew, and the caterers, etc). The only time they use super-wide lenses is for vast exterior landscapes where light is generally not a problem.

There are also engineering limitations which make it very difficult to manufacture such a lens, if not impossible.

Lol ... Yes it exists in cinema land

For example an 16mm f1.3 Arri master prime, pick one up at Abel cine for 25 grand

Keep in mind that is T1.3 not F1.3
There is a difference there but never the less an impressive lens. Sadly it is nowhere near the budget of most of us on this forum. I think if I added up my entire rig it wouldn't cost as much as that one lens.

A 5Dm2 + Sigma 20/1.8 or EF24/1.4L is probably the lowest cost option.

You are a Genius!!

I completely forgot how these lenses on a 5d give you a wider view. So a 20mm by Sigma and 24mm 1.4 by Canon would give me what kind of view on the 5d comparison to a 7d?

Thank you

Your going backwards on your math. The 5dmkII has a larger sensor so your field of view (relative to a 35mm film still camera) is the same. So your 20mm lens on a 5dmkII it will look like a 20mm lens. The 7d has a smaller sensor so your field of view is shrunk. The 7d has a 1.6 crop factor so your 20mm lens will look like a 32mm relative to a full frame of 35mm film in a still camera.

Which is why I asked what would a 20mm focal view from a 5d be compared to if it were on a 7d.

A 20mm on a 7d is a 32mm on 5d , so a 20mm on a 5d to get the same wide view would be what on a 7d?
