Can anyone recommend some good Hip-Hop Docs? Doesn't matter the subject, just related to Hip-Hop, mainstream or not, preferably not.

I have a couple I own which include. Rhyme & Reason, The Show, Freestyle:The Art of Rhyme, And You Don't Stop 30 years of Hip-Hop, Beef I II.
Those are the more mainstream ones.

Thanks alot.

"The Freshest Kids- A History of the B-Boy" - This was made back in 2001 or 2002. It tracks from the origins of Hip Hop dating back to the 70's in the Bronx up to 2001 and the impact it has had globally. I thought it was great in every aspect.

"All out War"- Upcoming Doc about 4 separate B-Boys from different walks of life. I don't know when it will be released but the trailer looks good.

'Public Enemy: Welcome to the Terrordome' (2007) is an excellent documentary showcasing the behind-the-scenes looks at Public Enemy. It includes footage that highlights the challenges that Chuck D has in keeping Flavor Flav focused.

Style Wars is by far the best IMO but it deals primarily with graffiti.

All though not really a doc Wild Style is the one and only hiphop film

all hiphop fans should have both of these films in their collection :)

i thought Jay-Z's "Fade to Black" was very good. It's basically the behind the scenes of the making of the Black Album

Just watched "Planet B-Boy". A 2007 doc about the battle of the year; an Olympic style event where 18 different nations hold qualifiers to choose one crew to represent them in a final battle held in Germany. This only focuses on B-Boying and not about the other dimensions of Hip-Hop (Graffiti, MC's, or DJ's). Very interesting stories as they follow various crews through the process.

Hello,
I thought Rise was a good film. Although it focuses on different styles of dance and a means to rising above certain problems.
