Do you think we will see more NX1 updates?

Curious about the need for a speedbooster on an APS-C sensor - the FOV and DOF for that size is about what we've seen in super 35 for decades of hollywood movies, right?

I get it for having more choices in wides, but running some gorgeous vintage lens through another layer of glass only seems right on a small sensor (4/3 or super 16). Or do some guys desire the Canon-big-sensor look that came about the last few years?

I almost got a BMC micro but factoring in the speedbooster killed the value equation for me...

Metabones makes adapters that have no glass and are not speedboosters as well. Canon EF glass has to have an electronic mount to adjust the iris. So an adapter is a pretty basic need, speedboosting or not if one wants to use Canon EF lenses.

Well… yeah. You can't just duct tape a lens on. I used basic adapters to run Nikkors on Canons. I'd need one for Nikkors on an NX1. But Samuel said he wanted a speedbooster, not an adapter. Everything in my comment regarded sensor size, FOV and glass. Metabones adapters without glass are adapters, not speedboosters. Speedboosters refocus the light to a smaller size.

Not sure what your point is, other than you can't just screw a canon on a samsung… but Samuell answered why he specifically wants a speedbooster (with its glass and FOV change) for APS-C.

Sorry, I thought your post was regarding my bringing up Canon glass on the NX-1 in the first place. You questioned why I would want an adapter for Canon glass then you questioned why one would want a Speedbooster. Just clarifying, no worries.

Ya bit of a bummer to see them say that. NX1 has a lot going for it. I mean right now I have to rank the cameras as

DSLR - NX1
Low Buget Cinema - Ursa Mini
Top Level - Arri and Red

I gotcha, this was more wondering why Samuell rejected the NX1, even with a super-35 sensor. I never purchased the BMC cinema cam because of the small sensor, but for me the only thing the NX1 lacks is raw or wide DR. It seems amazing for the $$.

I may rent the BMC 4k for an upcoming project, but it doesn't even do 60p. Still no do-it-all camera until one can afford the Ursa mini.

I'm considering investing in a v-mount setup and either an SDI viewfinder or a good SDI-to-HDMI solution and then renting various BMCs through this year. I've got some projects coming up where I could really use the color space and sharpness of raw or ProRes HD… getting tired of the DSLR limitations, though my Nikon will be excellent for lower budgets.

FWIW, NX500 just received a speed bump to 70 Mbps from 36 DCI/40UHD Mbps. Should NX1 receive a similar bit rate increase ...

Didn't it get it already? There was something called "pro" bitrate or something like that, and I thought it was 70 or 80 Mbps or something like that. Can't find the link now, though :(

Well, NX1 always had 80 Mbps, so there was a 34 Mbps gap between that and NX500. Now, there isn't. Would Samsung bump NX1 bit rate, just to create additional separation between these models? IMO, it's very doable (along with some form of a log and/or whatever else folks are asking for).

I still think Samsung will update this body at bit more, I was just about to move to the FS700 but ended up staying with NX1 for a few more projects as it really is an amazing camera. Excited to see the NX2 thats for sure....
