Hey RED team, I have not heard much in terms of schedule on the RED camera in the last few weeks. Are you still hitting targets or falling a bit back on production schedule? I would like an update if you have one!

GREAT 3d pics of the camera, can't wait till they are real!

Weren't they supposed to have prototypes for people to try by December?

I can't wait untill they have live 4K demonstrations.

And if they don't who cares? We can wait another couple of months, right people?

it depends..

i gave up the silicon imaging camera for this red project..

i care.. because we know mr jannard has a special care about airplanes, i'll give a fine example:

airbus had a schedule with the singapore airlines on the A380 delivery.. and they delayed the production a couple of months..

and there has been a serious problem for singapore airlines..

as well for the other air companies with a hundred and a half.. (a hundred of a half!) of reservations.

so for airbus.. being the airbus a big company.

edit
if don't afford the answer, don't ask again.. :)
as you can see, i'm not alone.. well, i'm talking about cameras.. not AIRPLANES.. at the tv and newspapers..

Even if there is a delay, you know the next thing they announce will be like 200 working camera protos on Jan 15. This project overdelivers when it's late.

GO TEAM RED!

Oh my...

We're more than 1000 people making suggestions about features, they make the features we want, and now we want it immediately, today ?

They started from 0...ZERO... scratch...no hardware, no software, about only one year ago.

hee hee... Let the team think and breathe ! hee hee

...and Merry Christmas !

Just so no one is tempted to put words in our mouth, I'll say again what we have said all year long. 1st 4k footage in the fall. 1st camera(s) go together in December. Shipping early 2007. That implies that we have a lot of work to do from December until shipping. This is an extremely difficult project in an impossible timeframe. Please don't raise expectations any higher than they are already. Technically, early 2007 could be any day before May 31st. It is well known that NAB is our target date. Although we make no promises.

As long as it takes to get ther product just right. No problem.

The downside of performing miracles is that the recipients tend to expect more and more of them. RED has defied all odds to do what they have already done. I think it's time for the RED community to smile, have a nice holiday season, be thankful for all that we have recieved, and give RED some breathing room to finish this project up right. They've more then earned our trust, so at this point all but the most cynical guys know that RED doesn't just talk the talk - they walk the walk.

Give 'em some space and watch 'em slam dunk the rest of the RED One project. I think we owe it to them at this point...don't you?

I hope you have them ready by NAB... that 40'x50' booth would be really lonely without cameras there. ;)

Curt... we'll definitely have working cameras at NAB, 4k footage on a 4k projector... plus some other surprises. I'm hoping we will have begun shipping the 1st serial numbers by then. But it will be a close call. Lots of things have to go our way.

damned computer.. :badputer: :furious3: pardon me..

it's good to know you still hitting the targets and not falling a bit back on production schedule..

RED ONE #111 would be glad to know their parents @May* -- and during July* the second RED ONE #647. It would be fine.

Jim and the RED team,

Please take all the time you need to get it right and be 100% happy with it I saw you mention in a different thread that you were concerned about getting the camera out and missing something. I can't tell you how many times I have felt the same way about a project or scene I shot before getting to see the dailys. It used to cause sleep less nights at times when I needed sleep the most, so I can empathise completely with you.

I and I would think many other RED reserve holders are more then happy to wait longer if you need it. 1-6-10 months extra no big deal, do what it takes to hit the huge homerun we are all confident you have comming.

It's funny you guys brought this subject up. I met a guy on a shoot the other day who said he was a personal friend of Ted, claimed the camera wouldn't be ready for a year and a half. It's just amazing what happens when you give people something they're not expecting, isn't it?
I'm with Gibby. Take MORE time. Please. I plan to work with this camera for a LONG, LONG time, so I'd rather everything was the most ready it could be and three months late.
Of course, if you don't need the time ... :)

back to my old signature...."slow down and enjoy the ride"

I'd rather have it done right. What's being done seems so extreme to me, even in the age of rapid prototyping, etc.

Even though schedules have been set I think that it's foolish to hold too closely to them and then be let down when they don't hit the mark.

The RED team has been very open about their dates and determination, but most anybody with half a brain and knowledge of any kind of production knows that things change.

I'd rather have it as right as can be and have to wait.
