Dec 1st Status Check

i will start shooting in a week or so. should be done around the middle of january i hope.

Script completed, cast signed, line script completed, dates set. Shot list looking solid. Locations set, costumes set... etc etc. Other minutae taken care of.

Now just a matter of doing everything we can.

Rock on, all.

We just secured our final locations yesterday for our shoot next weekend. I wish we had a need for a major set, or the budget for it, because the warehouse I got for us is 5,500 square feet with 30-40 foot tall ceilings!

Also got a great coffee shop that's really nice & mimics the Starbucks look. Lastly, shooting at my house, but hoping to find another home that doesn't have to deal with three kids running around (easier to shoot elsewhere than to get all my little ones out of the house).

Things are getting exciting!

I know what you mean! That's what's kept me from having someone else write the script. I finally decided (well, a while ago) to bag the writer idea and do it myself.
I know what YOU mean! I ask (writers) for Die Hard, and all I get is The Ring.

Oh yeah, we had our auditions last night, and there's a couple promising ones that came out of it, but we're pretty much at ZERO right now for females, and hav three roles to fill, two of which are key, one of which is the antagonist.

We'd never be able to do this in LA, but I contacted a talent agency in Portland, said this was pro-bono, and the agent helped me anyway, giving me the names/numbers of 8-9 attractive, talented, and physically fit women in their 20's-30's. Couldn't believe it. Already met with one today, which I think will fit one role REALLY well, and have another hopeful that may be interested in coming down from Seattle for the part ... again, for free. Crazy, huh?

And I'm telling you, Craig's List is the bomb. Through our CREW ad, we've secured a story board artist. Saw his stuff today, and very pro/industry standard.

Well my script is fairly finalized, still. My lead actress disappeared, then reappeared, my light guy is out of town till who knows when.

Done a couple green screen tests and that went really well.
I tried to do some previs but it was taking forever. Did about 1/2 the storyboarding.

I'm hoping to pull it all togethor :\

i took november off and will think about the script next week...played around with cgi aliens (that sucked) and think about puppets (could be fun)...

does anyone know how to build those things? or maybe some ressources in the net?

Still in the script phase here
not looking forward to casting, a few months ago we needed to cast an english speaking short and it was hell, those accents were killing me. could always do it in hebrew but it just doesn't sound right

grumble, grumble. My wife is making me do it, after all. So much for lounging around, doing nothing this month...

So. Got the opening titles and the closing credits. Just have to do the stuff in the middle. A snap.

Oy.

I'm still errrr......laughing.... I mean looking at the headshots I got for my piece. Will cast next week and shoot through the holidays to post in January.

Anyone else do a casting and get...well...interesting pics? I wish I could start a thread with some of the headshots I got... one in particular...a 40ish woman with very bleached hair in a see through white fuzzy sweater...NO bra...and see through white panties.... well, her head was in it so I guess technically it IS a "head shot"... LOL

  - that's certainly qualifies for an interesting head shot

At least you have a large pool to choose from! Here in Montana pickings are rather slim :)

Shaw, I'll send you some of the 250 or so I got!

Of that, I'd say about 50 (if I'm lucky) were even remotely professionally presented.

EXample....one genius mailed me his headshot... on his resume he crossed out in black marker his phone #...................
......................and didn't write another one....

His headshot was a b/w Xerox copy too.

But, if I was crazy enough to be interested in him.....how the f**k do I find him???!!!!

See if there's a local talent agency to draw from. I was really surprised by the response we've gotten. We've got our two main female roles (one's the antagonist/lead) filled, because of the assistance of a local talent agency. They both act well, and LOOK great (okay, stunning actually). The lead's got an Angelina Jolie thing going on.

I rec'd a few lame headshots through Craig's List, but the bigger problem I bet you folks will have is the talent not LOOKING like their headshots. When we held auditions, the one gal that could make it looked NOTHING like her headshot (which was okay). When she showed up ... YEESH!!! Next. To top it off, she couldn't deliver her lines with any emotion. Monitone Jone.

Hey Norm!

Yeah, I haven't even touched on that yet!!! YIIIKKKEEESSSSS!!!!!

I'm on a pretty big high today (yes, natural) The script is pretty rock solid (paces at 10-12 minutes, but we'll have a 6 min. cut for the fest), and has been getting great feedback. The lady who's playing the antagonist will be driving 3 HOURS from Seattle to do this (staying over night 2 nights for it), because she liked the script/character (found her through the agency).

K, sorry, shutting up now. :) WHOHOO!!
