I'm on a pretty big high today (yes, natural) The script is pretty rock solid (paces at 10-12 minutes, but we'll have a 6 min. cut for the fest), and has been getting great feedback. The lady who's playing the antagonist will be driving 3 HOURS from Seattle to do this (staying over night 2 nights for it), because she liked the script/character (found her through the agency).

K, sorry, shutting up now. :) WHOHOO!!

Awesome!!!! Natural highs are always good!!!! Can't wait to see yours!

And don't shut up! Share as much as you want!

Awesome man :)

That's sort of depressing for the rest of us though. ;) I still struggling with my script - haven't even begun to embark on the insane casting that's ahead of me. With the holidays on top of everything it's going to be really interesting to see who shows up at my casting session! I'll find a way though - even if I have to grab high school students or something. I ain't missing sci-fest!

I know the holidays are a bear for getting this stuff done ... no wonder the film industry pretty much shuts down from Thanksgiving 'till January 1st.

Don't get depressed ... did you ever read some of those posts during the Zombie Fest? One guy was talking about having 100 extras, an 1/3 mile traffic jam, cop cars, guns, etc. I about wanted to drop out on the spot! Talk about sucking the wind out of your sales!

Trust me, we're not going to have the incredible CGI (3D modeling) that some guys will.

We'll only have some quality FX (if it's not quality, it won't be in the film), and a great location I'm jacked about (the 5,500 sqft warehouse), and some eye candy with regards to the antagonist, and a killer music/score composer, and shooting with 2 DVX100's at a time, and incredible depth of field with our 35mm adapters, and a solid character driven script, and pro lighting, and pro audio, and a 12 ft crane, and doll/track and ....

Like I said, I ain't missing sci-fest! If jdanstan can take second with a hurricane mowing down the south the least I can do is finish an entry :)

I'm really looking forward to seeing all these entires - more so than Zombiefest. Sounds like you have a rockin' group!

Niiiiicccceeeeeeee!!!!!!!

Dec 3rd. Sold a chunk of my comic collection to finish the sets.

Otherwise, we're on track. I've even scheduled some rehersal time which I never thought would have fit into the schedule. One prop needs to ship to me, and one prop need to be built, but otherwise I'm on track.

Well, I have a basic idea of what I want to do, and plenty of interest from people from around here, I just can't seem to sit down to write a script. My friends who were volunteering to write a script when I told them about the contest, have backed out for multiple reasons...

I have figured out an effect that I wanted to do and taught myself how to do it decently... so we'll see how it all plays out. Even if we don't get a short done in time, I've already learned more than I did on the zombiefest.

Dec. 3rd- Cannot get a hold of one of my main actors! Contacted someone who is going to be script supervising/AD. Things are looking up.

THAT'S a dedicated film maker!

We also have to have a prop built, unless we can find something else that works. Time's counting down quickly, as we shoot in 5 days.

That is a dedicated film-maker, I love my comics too, well I've lost them all but I still love 'em.

Looks like I'll be working backwards, starting with the special fx in After Effects. Start shooting in the first week of January due to money. I haven't written anything in years. Making too much noise aka music to some. I'll be cutting the deadline pretty close. Which is the way I like it.

Dec 6th. Finally came up with an idea I really like. Laying down the script and drawing storyboards now. Pheew, almost 2 months still left :cheesy:

Stressing out as Friday approaches (first day of shoot). Can't sleep, can't really think of much else than this all consuming film.

SO thankful for partnering up with waltind ... he's a GREAT organizer & planner. So far, we're making an awesome team & have been equally yoked (sharing the load) through the process. The most interesting part, which we're both aware of, is going to be the editing process ... he's on Mac/FCP, I'm on PC/Vegas. That'll be a cool little behind the scenes in itself, seeing how the two programs can work together.

Don't know how all this stuff is coming together, but just had another positive happen today ... I posted an ad in Craig's List for an experienced stunt coordinator that had to come with their own gear ... pro bono (nothing in the budget for it - all money goes towards food, that's it). I even rec'd a nasty e-mail from some anonymous person saying how ameuter I appeared ... a hack wannabe film maker at best ... for posting such a request. Was I even aware of the cost of that kind of equipment (rigging, etc.), and that no professional would ever answer such an ad, etc. You know, just ragging on me.

Well, low & behold I get a response from this guy that's got something called a Raptor Rig that'll throw you up to 20 feet (all safety harnesses, etc.), has a TON of gear that he may be interested in using, etc. Bottom line, we're both local, and he loves to network & never knows what can come out of a situation (love his attitude), so if he's available this Saturday (he's working on a feature film right now & will know tomorrow), sounds like he's on board ... oh yeah, and WITH his gear.

Yeah, I understand. This'll sound like preachy or something, but it's a God thing, it's got to be. I certainly don't deserve all this stuff that's happening, and can't explain why they're all lining up the way they are.

Then again, I'm nervous as all get out, and I could FLOP HARD CORE in front of a bunch of pros ... so a lot's riding on the line with that regard.

waltind's a good guy .... it's probably all just coming together because I brainwashed him into hooking up with me on it.

LOL! I could consider some kind of producer credit, but then there's the co-production agreements to deal with, etc. :cheesy:

Finally secured our caterer ... not a REAL caterer, but a guy I know who owns the local God Father's Pizza restaurants, and is willing to do all the food shopping, handle the craft services table on set, and take care of the hot meals.

Our cost? Just reimbursing his out of pocket costs for food, and shooting his daughter's wedding, whenever that is.

Glad to do it ... I was REALLY starting to sweat it as we begin filming night after tomorrow night, and still didn't have food figured out yet ... which was a HUGE deal since everyone's doing this for free & we've promised to feed them well.

I havent done anything yet.

Still have the Screenplay and Script sitting on my harddrive.

I checked craigslist to see if anyone would help out with the CG...everyone wants like 300 bucks or more for this!! im like..HSLADFHSADHFA

but neways....it jus freakin snowed..so now im pissed..this sets me back a while now...no shooting until snow is gone..and if it snows one more time over here..im gonna go throw a moltov cocktail into the woods and melt all the snow then start shooting for my firey scene..then get arrested.

Happy shooting!

Tell him I said you are overpaying. He should pay for costs of food, your shooting his daughters wedding is worth at least $900, more if you have ever shot one before. A LOT more than a meal or two of catering.
