I think with the D4 we can be safe (that will be sure?) of it! ;-)Very useful info. Thanks for that. Let's hope we don't need it for 99% of shooting.
With the recent 5d3 1080p footage(ok ok, I will still wait for the I-frame codec sample), I am beginning to think the D800 is my favorite of the latest batch of new cameras. Just jonesing for some timecode though. Does the Hyperdeck Shuttle record timecode when tapping the HDMI output?I think with the D4 we can be safe (that will be sure?) of it! ;-)
Nanotechnology is like Cow Bell, I can never get enough of it.My Biotech bro like to rib me when i ask that question. He says...

I disagree, James. Only the comments are underwhelming! ;-)With the recent 5d3 1080p footage
Ok, I was too quick to write that, but didn't mean it as a final judgement. Just talking off the cuff (I intentionally used the word 'beginning'). I wanted to consider the other options, and investigate the use of Nikon with an HDMI recorder. And I definitely was not saying the D800 was better! Just saying my developing/questioning preference at that moment. Perhaps I have been posting too much, and am beginning to write what I am thinking, instead of what I have thought about.I disagree, James. Only the comments are underwhelming! ;-)
The problem is not your comments. Maybe who comes from outside with or without a badge but very likely with no clue about other stuff already shown (discussed, whatever...homework!) and start to post making others to say the same in order to not make the fool part out of the picture. Typical case of internet misinformation. It is not exactly your case once you are one of the few to form your own opinion also based on others' opinion, yes. Why not? I don't escape either ;-) We should always try to find the consensus, except when we're going in the wrong direction : )Ok, I was too quick to write that, but didn't mean it as a final judgement. Perhaps I have been posting too much, and occasionally write before I have had time to digest information or find additional facts.
For example, I did not factor in that the 5d3 video was shot at iso3600 (3200???). The noise and detail levels are quite good, and far better than a 60D in those conditions.
Anyway, I was about to erase my comments, but you made note, so I will leave it as a reference.
More nanotechnology, please.

The quicker to see takes always the best part of the girl. Sorry, cake, I meant : D
It is important to trade ideas. For example, I and many others we've seen things we don't like it. The infamous moiré on the bridge, despite the tough pattern to deal with using a wide angle, but isn't that the idea?I see. Perhaps, if we truly valued our own thoughts, we wouldn't be so hurried to use our words before our ideas are more complete???
Yes, the moire on the bridge was a disappointment. That kicked me in the shins the first time I saw it (there was a 1080p version available for a short time, and it had the moire, as well). The doctors plate, I hadn't seen. Though, the Nikon has a sync scan for recording television screens and monitors without flicker - haven't seen that listed on the 5d3 yet.It is important to trade ideas. But take a glance on the minute 1:11-1:13 here (the Ragstock store's):

And here (3:44-3:46 on the doctor's plate):

Aliasing... from where? Original footage? Deficient downsampling? Re-encoding, compression?
Yes, this crap:the same again, apparently.
I really like the look of this video http://vimeo.com/38009435 .It has a real nice look, but I think the moire may still be a problem. I especially see it in the stockings at 1:50 .It's in black and white but the patterns are there.
