No this is different. I'm not completely sold in Nikon cameras for video. Even on the 7000 the motion just appears off. It doesn't have anything to do with lighting, just how the camera deals with motion.

Oh, I see, I misunderstood you. Sorry, for the crash course in video vs film. ;) For the motion thing, I am not happy with most of the digital cameras today. Ever since the advent of digital 24p. I am thinking that has to do, in part, to the shutter/capture methods involved.

Anyway, here is my favorite scene in the short piece "Through the Lens" (@4:30), because it is so blatantly trying to say, "Hey we have reduced moire."

Indeed. Nothing f's up a nice Plaid Suiting fabric more than moire. Good they solved that. I have that suite :)

Just found some videos comparing the moire, ISO and rolling shutter of the D800 vs 5D Mark II on youtube.

Not sure what to make of them. The shot of the couch is encouraging, but with the difference in lens focal length its not really easy to compare the two shots. The ISO seems about the same as the Mark II, wich isn't bad considering its a 36 mp sensor. A little disappointed with what I see of the rolling shutter.

i have no idea who made this , i wouldnt be so sure this is a true test , the difference in focal length seem too much far apart , seems like the same as FenchelJanisch videos which is not very reliable

In my heart, i say lock the speculative threads down or ignore them till we have real cameras in OUR hot little hands. With all the rumors of 4K out the front in future canon DSLRs, I don't see the point in speculation at all.

Well that's me committed  Just plonked a deposit down on a D800, the store is currently expecting their first cameras in just 10 days time.

Your thoughts are the same as mine. I'm partially impressed and partially disappointed.

I'm very close to committing myself, but I think I'm going to wait until after NAB.

Much sharper than I was expecting. great to see the Moire as a thing of the past... one day we'll look back and laugh.

I agree the video does look promising, but at such a different focal length it could be deceiving.

Now if we could just see some freaking HDMI out!

Agreed. This is what I'm waiting for most. This NEEDS to be good. I only plan to record via HDMI, and will probably never use the internal codec.
