critque my work (dvx 100a)

You're trailer is tight, bro. Keep up the good work. Loved the shots and content...

just as quick side not, we had the swat team show up at one of my film rehearsals... I can laugh now, but it wasn't funny at the time.

Alright, I'm just going to point out a few shots that could've been better. Bible was the one that stood out. It just seemed too long and too focused on the large titles "THE BIBLE" that it needed to be for anyone. I'm making some assumptions here, but I'm going to venture a guess that the person making the decision to pick up the bible is the important part. Just showing that it's the bible should only be on the screen long enough to know what it is and then cut to the person holding it.

When the girl says "don't hurt him", the large watch in the show I found distracting. I thought the guy was looking at his watch.

The circling crane shot moving above the couple looked awesome.

Going on another assumption here. Two of the guys are going down a bad path basically because of thier life styles and they're trying to get out. If that's the case then I towards the 2nd half when the music picks up I would've had intercuts with arguements characters get into since the drama of messing up thier lives is the real soul behind a a movie like your movie appears to be.

Overall good job. It's a rare chance I have to get that specific and you're above most of the movie's I've reviewed.

Keep it up.

Jack that was beautifully said, I think that was bogus for a member of DVX with pimpdaddy for a avatar to comment on. What those that say about all the members that are women on this board.
well I didn't mean to confront or attack Pimpdaddy by any means, just engage in a discussion around what clearly seemed to me to be a sympathetic (i.e. it's hard comin' from the hood) but anti thug-life trailer.

But don't worry, my ratio of beautifully said things to sophomoric, ill thought, puerile things is roughly 1 to 9 :)

I'm sure I'll un-redeem myself soon enough

Hot trailer looks good bro.. again can you post up the camera settings you used and what type of lighting set up did you use if any, we here at dvxuser love to get as much information on a project as possible that of course looks as good as yours ... Excellent job my friend.

thanks again guys for the ongoing encuragement.it makes me want to take directing to the next level.sorry i haven't gotten around to answering alot of the qestions ut here goes.the settings that i used varied on my camera but i used alot of cc to get the looks i wanted for this film.the majo trick i think to the overall success in keeping the film looking consisting was controlling my light.plain and simple,an overcast day with good exposure will make you life so much easier and will also give you that consistency you need to help with the film look.i also used a lowel light kit with diffusion and gels.

This one teaches such a great life experience. I love it so much! The story is understandable and all the shots were very professional. Very touching!

The trailer looked great and had nice lighting and camera moves. I would be interested in seeing some production photos of your lighting setups as everything looked very polished, unlike a lot of beginner work I've seen. Keep up the great work!

sorry no photos but i used a low end lowel kit for indoors and a high power flash light for some of the night outside shots.
