Cheapest option for a 20mm or wider lens with f/2.0 or lower capability?

just a slight correction, mildly offtopic: in terms of DoF, f/2.8 on APS-C is exactly f/4,5 on FF, at any distance to the subject; just multiply by 1.6

My Pcam calculator says f4 1/4 at the equivalent of 38mm(1.6x focal length) on a zoom lens, so let's split the difference. :-)

Which is Exactly what I will be doing as well. Also I have shot pictures and video with the Sigma wide open and they look great.

In all fairness to the 1.8 Sigmas. Although the charts look a little soft, in the real world it's a different story. I have seen a lot of beautiful sample images shot at night with those lenses. With the 5Dmk3 should be groundbreaking.

perhaps it's a mardi gras fueled alchohol bender talking, but to hell with the 5dMk3...for much less I can have the 60d, which is catered more to video, and my little T2i proved itself tonight in that aspect.

tonight at a wedding job my T2i (550d) blew my professional video cameras clear out of the water, and that's just with vintage lenses from a pawn shop. if I wasn't convinced enough they kicked my pro video cams' asses @ a bar that I went to after the wedding job also. the T2i looked amazing @ 800 on the ISO when my video cams looked only "ok" @ 18db of gain.

simply put, I'm buying some more memory cards tomorrow. there is absolutely no comparison. it's like comparing a Yugo and a Porsche 911 GT2.

If you are reading this and you've hesitated about switching to DSLR cameras for weddings don't wait any longer. Just buy a few cameras and a few good lenses, there is no comparison in the quality and only about a 10% increase in difficulty in shooting. The biggest thing is that your gain in low-light ability makes up for any difficulties.

Actually don't upgrade...because the DSLRs are so good that I'd rather you not, that just makes more competition for me.

This post really makes no sense at all and especially not in this thread.

First and foremost the 5Dmk3 has not been released so you have no idea how and what it is for you to say that it will not be catered for video.
Second when you say your t2i performs better than your professional video cameras, means nothing as you are not stating what cameras you are using exactly.

There are many professional video cameras that are better than a t2i and most dslrs, for you to make a blanket statement like that is 100% incorrect.

With all that said do some research and understand what and each camera is used for as everything has a time and place.

Life4eva, to be fair he did start off with:

Meanwhile, I must admit I do enjoy your posts- they inject life into threads that would otherwise have been closed! ;)

I hear that, and your posts are definitely entertaining (your posts should have a subscribe button, LOL), but sometimes I think you let your "brutal honesty" get the better of you.

Especially when some of your "100% Honest" posts are 100% your own opinion... your posts are fun, but just don't become "that guy", you know?
See you around the forum.
