C200: CFast compatability - Cards that support VPG-130

angelbird 256s are working like a dream for me as well.
Just anecdotal , haven't bought other brands because these work fine

Seconding the Angelbird 256GB cards. I have three and they have been flawless.

I've also used the 128Gb and 256GB Sandisk cards, which have also been great. Just make sure they have the VP-130 logo on the card. Sandisk has has many iterations of their 128GB cards.

What about the Anglebird 512GB? I can't verify if they are VPG-130, and they are the same price as the EgoDisk. They do advertise as "stable stream" what ever that means.

Two...you can offload one in the field while you use the other, or have a back-up if one fails or gets damaged.

I always work on SanDisk SD and there were no problems. Just yesterday, I communicated with a friend, and he said that during the recording the CFast2.0 card failed (not SanDisk but another card)

Wow that's cheap! Reading the C200 comments though, hmm...might be too cheap.

Yeah. That’s a little off putting, but to be perfectly honest I’ve found Amazon reviews to be kind of a shitty medium in general. I wish someone who had some bona fides had tried these and had something to say.

At that price, I’m tempted to buy a couple and see.

ProGrade Digital (the guys who used to run Lexar) are $350 for 256gb as well.

I should do that for HD Video Pro, a Cfast 2.0 card shootout. I would read that. I have the EgoDisk cards, I would pick up one of these cheap Freetails, I would just need to get Sandisk and ProGrade to send me one to evaluate. I approached Ego Disk and ProGrade about becoming a shooting media sponsor our documentary. After half a dozen inquiries, Ego Disk got back to me but wouldn't even give us one card, just a discount so I stopped hash tagging them and promoting them for the film, it's too bad, we would have been great marketing for them, shooting with their cards under extreme circumstances. ProGrade never even responded, not even a turn down after half a dozen inquiries through various channels as did Sandisk. So freaking hard to get any kind of sponsorships these days for documentaries, even for just a couple of thousand dollars worth of cards.

Yeah. I’m thinking about snagging a FreeTail, an EgoDisk and a ProGrade. I’m not in Cali, but I could help out however you need. I agree that’d be a good article for HDVideoPro to run.

I agree with the sponsorship thing. I’ve been trying to get a doc on drones/UAS off the ground for at least regional distribution for about a year. It’s a hassle to try to get any sponsorship at all... so I’m probably going to just bootstrap it myself and shoot it ultra low budget.

I don't have a C200, but I recently got an EgoDisk PRO 512GB Cfast 2.0 card to use with my 1DX Mark II. So far, it's been working flawlessly. Really nice to be able to shoot 2 hours of 4K without having to switch cards! I might get another one soon.

That's basically what we did. We raised $10k on our IndieGoGo but with the amount of time involved, effort, having to have all of the hats, shorts, other perks made, shipment, that $10k was actually not a good value for time spent to get it, we probably spent about $20k of our time to raise it. All we used it for was to give our editor a down payment, buy a third set of drives for our editor and to pay crew.

Our film is 85% in the can but we have to shoot a lot of story wrap up interviews over the next three months but that's just our time, we don't need to have crews for that. Now we are looking at needing to raise about $80-100k to put the film through post, editor, composer, sound mix, color correction/grade, little bit of motion graphics and if we can raise $100k, we want to take our two main characters to Hawaii for a week of reflection back on the season, their lives, do some cool cultural/Hawaiian paddling things while there (our film is about two women outrigger paddlers, Hawaii's state sport). I don't know where we will raise that money, but we're going to give it our best shot to get an agent/distributor lined up. We have a few connections with potential sponsors but we have a lot of looking and fishing to find a few sources to rais the money. We know that if editing it falls back on me and my co-producer, it'll never get done as we both have full time jobs with our own production companies, mortgages, kids. We took this year to shoot it but it's going to take 5 months FT in an edit bay, easily, to craft the story.

Let me know if you get the Freetail and ProGrade cards, would be interesting to hear your experience.

B&H has two packs of the ProGrade 256GB for $600. I may pick one of those up and a FreeTail just to try it out.

And now those two packs of the ProGrade 256GB are $545. I just ordered one. Going to snag a FreeTail too.
