Carbon Cage Struts With Threaded Inserts

Hey Evan,
thanks for the review! Yeah, I'm really looking forward to investing in the CPM rig - I love how Steve is so responsive and definitely like that it's lightweight. I'm sticking it out until the wide cages are out though. I'm not the richest and can't afford to invest in multiple  so hopefully it'll be a one-time right purchase!

Hah! I think anybody who is interested in DSLR soon becomes not the richest after all the gear they buy :)

To be honest I thought I would need the wider arm for my 7D, but it hasnt been a problem, the 7D sits a little forward from the back half cage support and works fine, I am actually in the process of mounting a small articulating arm to that strut to hold my LCDVF and so having it closer really helps for that.

The good thing is, with the CPM gear and in fact with most gear RedRock, ProAim even Zacuto. Because they are all based on the same standard rails and so on, you can mix and match and add things as you can afford them. I already have gone from just the Proaim kit with Mattebox, baseplate and follow focus, to adding the Redrock shoulder support and handle bars to the CPM cage and I am still pretty much using every bit just in different ways as it grows.

My rig showed up yesterday! I didn't have time to take great pictures, so I will have to post more later with everything setup including my zoom h4n etc. Awesome product and great customer service at a wonderful price point...It being lightweight and strong is what drew me to it and I am very happy. It's going to work great in the field especially when I am walking for miles sometimes from point to point.

Hey CPM, firstly congrats on releasing such a sweet and tempting system. I currently shoot with a 5DII and 7D and GH1 in Beirut, Lebanon. It has been very difficult to order gear from over here due to credit card restrictions and also that here isn't paypal authorized. My lebanese cards don't work at all. Is it possible to arrange for some way to purchase and ship one or two cage setups to Lebanon? We have been trying to purchase a rig for almost six months now and are losing a lot of money in the process. It has been a nightmare.

Aside from the cage being an ideal solution for us over here, and that it looks incredibly functional and impressive, I like that I can talk to the developers on this thread and ask their help in some kind of arrangement where we can purchase and courier the systems to our neighborhood.

Also, is the indifocus pro ff system/mini/indimatte compatible on the CPM?

Thank you so much for your time guys. Its been hell giving our money to someone across the atlantic. just hell.

Would love it if we could wire you the money or something. Do you ship to the middle east? has it worked? our post isn't too hot here.

Hey Steve, what's the ETA on those wide cages and the offset shoulder mounts?

I'm sorry I know everyone must ask you this all the time but I'm so excited I can't wait :D

The quick release base and plates are in mold trials right now. Next tool is the "Z" offset. The QR mold was a lot more complex then this one, so I am thinking tooling form the brackets can be done in a couple weeks. Thinking of listing them in single and in sets of two.

Wider cage is almost there. Have some initial ideas designed.

Quick question to Steve, does the alternate lower-clearance screws offered to ¨haircut¨ in post No.35 are now standard on every order or do we have to ask for them? I also have a slide in quick release plate (manfrotto 501 head) Thanks!

hi steve, i was wondering if you received an email I sent about 4 days ago asking for a price on two custom kits. may be it went to you junk mail? i sent it from beernardo@efenueve.com thanks!

I don't remember seeing an email, please send it to steven@cpmfilmtools.com
I will be sure to get you an answer. All the rigs go out with an extra set of button head screws for the bottom of the struts. Our quick release plates are shipping with both a conventional side clamp and a 577 (501) style clamp. The 577 side clamp is longer then the conventional clamp and allows the use of exisiting thin quick release plates, like the 501. The one thing we wanted to do with our QR units was to avoid forcing people to buy all new gear. I will post up some pictures so people can see what we mean with our QR plates.

Steve, I just sent you an e-mail, please let me know if you received it. The pictures about the QR plates will definitely be very helpful, I already own a couple of those plates for the manfrotto 501 head, but you never know when extra stuff my come in handy.

Thanks!

Pictures show our QR base with our QR short plate, long plate and the 501/577 plate. Seems there are A LOT of people that use the smaller manfrotto unit and we did not want to force any of them to purchase all new gear just to add a QR base to one of our rigs. We send both side clamps with each base, and all the required hardware to bolt the QR base to our belly pan. Our unit is also half the weight which is nice when trying to get the front end weight off a shoulder rig.

Hope to have pictures of the counter weight parts next week. The mold is done, just waiting for some molding machine time to open up.

Steve
