Canon T1i with 1080p announcement today

It would be a bit strange....and wouldn't help them steal sales from panasonic or nikon. It has to be 24p.

That makes no sense. I just can't picture that on a marketing brochure online. Shoot your family videos in kungfu vision!

20p god tell me it's a typo!?!

Let's see if Canon slips and falls on this mode like everybody else has?

Manual Control and 24p and I am no longer a loyal Nikon user!

It's true! 20fps. They are LAME!

From Canons own web site.....

Quote..... """" The EOS Rebel T1i shoots brilliant video, even in full high definition. By simply selecting Movie mode on the EOS Rebel T1i's mode dial, the camera's 3.0-inch LCD lights up, and it's ready to go. Shooting is at a frame rate of 30 fps when shooting SD or HD quality video (640 x 480 and 1280 x 720 pixels, respectively) and at a frame rate of 20 fps in Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) recording. Sound is recorded through the camera's built-in microphone. Playback modes are simple to access, and all Live View AF features can be used in shooting video.""""

Canon went full retard

AGAIN

So really in the end, the real competition is going to be between the D400/D800 and whatever Canon uses to succeed or join the 5d. This is consumer bullshit, and Canon was too scared as it is plain to see that they didn't want to come out with something that us filmmakers could use.

This is consumer bullshi*, and Canon was too scared as it is plain to see that they didn't want to come out with something that us filmmakers could use.

I heard they were going to make it 23fps to really stick it to us and have a larf, but in their testing it looked too close to 24fps and they were afraid we might actually use it. So they backed off even more to 20fps.

Pretty sure its 1080p@30fps...same Digic 4. The manual controls would be the new twist. The wild card would be if the HDMI port has live output. And, how they handle the 15MP sensor. Again, a little big to handle in real time. The 5DM2 seems to skip 2 of every three rows. It is likely that this camera does the same, which would bring its pixel count down to 4.8Mp in a very asymmetric way. It would suffer some of the same aliasing as the 5DM2. However, the 5DM2 has beautiful images.

A related rumor (starting here now) is there would be a firmware upgrade to the 5DM2 to match the Rebel. However, you can't be sure that there wasn't a chip revision also.

Okay, so I've read thru the site and from what I can see its only stated once about the 20fps... coudn't this be a typo? I've never even heard of 20fps before!

Has to be...for lots of reasons.

1) Digic 4 doesn't support it

2) AVCHD doesn't support it

3) No playback device supports it

4) No one would want it

It could be a 3:2 pulldown 24fps, but I doubt it. It would be a major change to DIGIC 4 (no other 24p implementations), a major increase in complexity, and add chroma artifacts.

Note, the spec page is silent on the subject.

Also, no tilt screen.

The UK site says 20fps on the spec page....3:3 pulldown? As does the Japanese site: 記録サイズ/フレームレート1920×1080/20fps(Full HD)、1280×720/30fps(HD)、640×480/30fps(SD)
