Just got this information from a pretty reliable friend, he would never lie or fabricate to me but again he might have been lied-to, I highly rate its reliability but nothing 100%, lets say 80-90ish%

Anyhow the supposedly C700x specs are:

-Top of the Cinema line: alexa/Red yet in Small C300-like form factor

-New sensor (size in-between aps-h and FF), with 4096x2160 resolution, Global shutter, 15 stops of DR, with still high lowlight performance as previously or better

-New recording compartment (removable and connect to body with a thunderbolt input) that can take 3 New Canon Drives media (1, 2, and 3 TB available) or 3 CFs.

-10-12-14bit uncompressed raw, Mpeg 8-10-12-14, 4:4:4 bit compressed (800mbps to 50mbps) in any container (mov, mp4, xml) basically ALL compression codecs options available from 8bit 422 to 14bit 444 raw internally to the 3 new drives which can be configured to 3x3TB=6TBs (and externally too)

-4K 60P, 2K 120P, 720p 150p, SD 600p

-Body is longer in bottom to accommodate the recorder unit and 4 XLRs at bottom instead of top handle (now saved for just the LCD), body is a beefed up C300 in general.

-Weird emphasis on metadata with tons of specs

-Emphasis on skin colour in lowlight situations (We see faces in the dark)

-EF Cinema primes cover the sensor, and all Canon EF photographic lenses (so will be available in EF as well as PL). New EF-X ciinema zooms and EF-x cinema primes coming also with a weird emphasis on metadata

-One small internal battery pack lasts 4 hours with maximum features enabled

Do you believe it? I certainly hope it's true! It's like the worlds first ''perfect camera''...

Still 100% believe it's fabricated? I don't... It seems like a top-of-the-line model that will definitely get a new C300 mk II setting below to fill the gap. This doesn't contradict there's a C300 mk II coming at all (which is why many find c700x impossible). If the C700x is true, it will be somewhere around alexa/red/varicam/f55 price bracket not C300/fs7/f5/ range.

What are the reasons that should make us 100% certain it's impossible?

Because that is the worst photoshop I've seen on the internet.

And those specs are stupid.

If you want to believe in it feel free.

It makes no sense.

My heart would sink if it's not true, this raises expectation too high.

It's just hard for me to believe someone would make such detailed fabrication for no reason at all, not financial or personal. Look at the body modification and minor changes in length, size, compartment placement, inputs/outputs covers, that weirdly extensive metadata analysis, Canon Hard drives, I mean fabricating a small photo that came up at first, okay just fun, writing a press release, okay fun, but this, I mean I just can't imagine why would someone go into SO much trouble!

It's like deja vu all over again.

Which reminds me of one of my favorite comedies, "Top Secret!" (made by the Zucker-Abraham-Zucker team, responsible for the "Airplane!" and "The Naked Gun" series, among other things)

In this film, our hero meets a squad of French resistance fighters (in a mid-80's, East Germany) and this is the exchange.

Du Quois: This is Chevalier, Montage, Detente, Avant Garde, and Deja Vu.
Deja Vu: Haven't we met before?

I've just done some Googling. It appears that most of the XML stuff comes form an attachment that was published on the cinematography.com ( see copy and paste from Google below). Some piece may have been changed, but I have no doubt that mostly it was borrowed from that document - I searched for several things and Google inevitably points to this attachment now deleted.

This is just another proof that it's all fake.

"But I'll miss you most of all Scarecrow!"

I just hope they release a C701. Its better because...well...it would be 1 better.

Nah. It'd be 711. See, this is what makes this the greatest camera in the whole world. Its model number. Because ten is as high as others can go. But this one goes one model number higher. This one goes all the way to eleven.

And instead of a flash drive and hand strap, the first 1000 buyers get FREE SLURPEES FOR LIFE!

Here's what also gives this away : we know that C300 MK II will be unveiled in less than a week and we - meaning those not among the early testers, retailers and other insiders - still don't know full specs of the model. But this C500/700 that no one has seen has everything down to detail. It just doesn't compute.

For the record, I thought the NDA's expire a couple of weeks prior to the NAB. It seems I wuz wrong.

My experience with NDAs are that they expire 1) when they tell you it's over 2) when the product you are under an NDA is announced or 3) when you realize the product they showed you is never coming out.

How often does #3 happen?

I figure the retailers get to see the "almost ready" products while the testers get to try out early prototypes too.
