Canon 70d Has Aliasing Moire

I don't think you actually could produce anything watchable, no matter what camera you had.
Come on now. No need for that kind of attack. We come in all shapes and sizes. Whether we film for fun or gold we all have something in common. The love of the picture. Technical disagreements are one thing. Bashing ones work here is below the belt tactic.

What is with the relentless trolls though that just try to derail threads with their own agendas, repeating the same crap over and over again? That is pretty annoying, and makes this thread unpleasant and less useful to read.

Not too sure who you're pointing out but the thread is rather pointless. If you want to discuss the 70D I put my thoughts on the camera over in this thread: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?313187-70D-and-my-thoughts-on-it-Samples

Probably your brain just like Dusty is severely damaged, I don't want the shallow depth of field of Mark III. I want APS-C ( SUPER 35 ) Again look at this Nikon way better than 70D even the Lumix G6 has much better image than 70D just like C100, and Bye, Bye. I have seen that a lot of people only want to justify why to remain with Canon and not solve the Moire Problem with the multiple options the market is offering.

Wow that video clearly shows that the moire on the 70d is out of this world for a brand new camera in 2013, Canon needs to get the fundamentals right and than work on the fancy stuff, good luck to them is all i can say.

Where as on the video I posted above the 70d is on par with the 7d. But all me silly shooting with the 70D shows that the image when not moireing is actually quite sharp and detailed. I've been pushing the in camera sharpening up to 2 from zero. Look, we all loathe moire. The AF system however is a major plus for this camera. Put this sucker on a steadicam and you can shoot longer focal length tracking shots without losing focus. It just nails it. Name another $1100 camera with aps-c sensor that can do that?

I going to film a funeral tomorrow for a friend were family memebers can't attend (FUN job eh?) I plan on using my C100 and the 70D. I'll put a link up to it if all goes well. YAY, maybe the first camera test shot with a funeral as the subject.

really ! This is felipe's thread...and he does have a valid point . Calling him a troll...in his own thread is hilarious ! Go for it felipe. Who knows. Maybe canon is listening ! Also dusty has good points. The af is great. What i suspect is canon could fix the moire...but it's too worried about loosing c100 sales .

This is the only way to get a clean image with this camera, I bought it and test it, It does continous focus without problem

Thanks for the info. Is this a new design, or did you use the VAF 60D filter? Couldn't find the VAF 70D in Mosaic's shop.

That video definitely illustrates an improvement with the filter in, but I honestly still see brick moire when watching full screen HD. Not sure if that's Vimeo's fault or the camera's. But it still looks like more than I'd get with a GH3, and definitely more than a GH2.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I suspect that the image would become too soft if they got rid of all the moire, so this OLPF is a good solution, but don't expect perfection.

We can dream, can't we. *sigh*

You'd think I'd have learned by now to stop expecting Canon's budget DSLRs to improve in that department anytime soon.

I stopped visiting canonrumors.com on a daily basis. I still come to this section of the boards, but it's clearly much more quiet than, say, bmcuser.com.

Also, if you want a measurable indicator...
Daily downloads of Flaat suite of picture styles:
may 2013:80 canon, 35 nikon
oct 2013: 35 canon, 30 nikon

The world is moving really, really fast, away from Canon DSLRs.

I don't know if that's a good measurement. I know a Loy of canon users that didn't know about different picture profiles. I have 3 canon myself and I didn't download flaat picture profiles.
