I have heard very little about this release. Some minor rumors. Anyone know any info? I keep hoping that it will be a mini C300 Mark II without audio and ND for 1/2 the price.

That site has been talking about a 1DX II for awhile, but I really doubt it is going to be of much use for video after the poor reception of the 1DC.
be happy with what you have.....
There are three fairly exhaustive Canon sites - Rumors, Watch and Fred Miranda (which has a huge section dedicated to Canon).
Off the three, CR seems to break the most news/rumors. And regarding 1D X2, it seems like a 25 MP sensor with similar ergonomics as 1D X. I would speculate on my own that the new camera 4K will be heavily crippled, as not to compete against C300 MK II.
Off other rumors, 5D MK IV (it also could be two slightly different cameras, 5D MK IV and 5D C, a la 5Ds and 5Dr) may be announced somewhere around the late fall/winter 2015-16 and only after 1D X2 is out. If so, then 1D X2 should be unveiled somewhere close to the C300 MK II release, with the chances of these two cameras having similar features being rather minimal.
Canon might surprise us all but, quite often, these surprises aren't entirely positive.
It seems this way to me as well. If they unveil C500 MK II around the next NAB, that'd make sense but 5D MK IV/C and 1 DX2 should be out much sooner than the summer of 2016, what with them already being in testers hands and all.... if they wait a year, Canon would have really missed the boat.
Guessing Canon is too busy picking up their jaw off the ground after seeing the specs of the A7RII.. They are getting smashed on all fronts except sports photography, and I'm guessing sony will have a competitive model by years end.. The popularity and market growth of the 7 series is remarkable. Being HEAVILY invested in Canon gear I'm always interested in what's next, but I'm slowly starting to realize that time may have past. My pre-order is in for an A7RII![]()
I do not think you need to worry. Most of the professional A7 series users use EF lens + adaptor, is not likely you will need to buy any Sony made Zeiss lens.Guessing Canon is too busy picking up their jaw off the ground after seeing the specs of the A7RII.. Of course, Canon - and most other manufacturers - should release something the next summer ... as they do each summer.
PS. Here's an interesting side point on 1D X2 - if it's ~ 25 MPX. Will 4K be in 8.3 MPX center crop or oversampled and, if oversampled, from how many pixels? Mind you, C300 MK II has an 8.8 MPX sensor. Technically speaking, a oversampled 4K could have better color sampling due to the Bayer filter effect. Sony has oversampling in A7R MK II and Panasonic in G7 (G7 has a very mild one).
