Camera Base plate

OK, here's a deal for you: I'll let you have my Cavision baseplate/rails system, complete with carbon fiber rails (!) for $100.

You'll love it.

seems like a nice product but as i understood nothing holds the camera plate but the front tip only, and the back end of the camera plate is just hang in the air ? is it so? then ist just seems insecure for the big cam like af101.....

i have the RedRock baseplate posted and is a really solid piece. I was worried too with the rods only connecting on the front part but so far it's been super stable and rock solid, and for the price i don't think there are any comparable options.

+1 for the RedRock.

It has various mounting holes in the bottom part btw.

do u use it with a shoulder rig? or just on tripod? its a big difference as the weight distributes differently

I've used it on the shoulder, fully rigged with a matte box, and plenty of counter weight to balance it all out, it works fine. All the stress goes onto the rails, not the mount. You just buy/make long enough rails to mount the handles, shoulder mount, and counter weight. At that point, the camera mount is just along for the ride.

All this was done with Carbon Fiber rails... Aluminum or steel wouldn't even feel it.

so the weight of the plate it self and camera holds just 2 front hols..... hope its solid enough

Yeah, the body of the camera is like 3 pounds, a lens is going to be at most 3 more pounds, anything heavier really should have a lens support mounted to the rail any way, so we're talking a total of about 6 pounds of stress being put on the mount. I think that it shouldn't be too big an issue.

actually yes that one seems ok, i wonder if some one used it or have it, may be some better pix available?
