"Dead Week" - A film by Kyle Stebbins (and company)

I've submitted Dead Week in 720p to our campus DLP theatre where they will be holding the 2008 Cinema 16 Halloween Film Festival. Entries must be less than 7 minutes long.

I'm glad that the DVXuser fest rules allowed for us to submit Dead Week to this screening! It's going to be a blast seeing our work on the big screen in HD!!

Oh wow! Congratulations! That will be fun. And stressful. People are never honest during screenings - you always get a bunch of "awesome", "loved it", "nice", etc.

That's true, but it sure feels good. Alex and Kyle and I had Alex vs Nate screened there in May, and we had a rather epic effect on people. Then again I think it was mostly the visuals... most people there didn't know mortals like us could even do that

I have a couple friends going to Lincoln with me (including Chris, who played a zombie in the film); we're all psyched

Dead Week took 2nd place at the Halloween Film Festival!! -- It's certainly no Sundance or Cannes, but it was an absolute blast. Dead Week looked great up there. The projection crew did a fantastic job, and there were some REALLY GREAT entries.

The 1st place prize was given to a group called Thirty Seven Robots (www.thirtysevenrobots.com). Their entry was a sitcom-style flick called "Jon and Jason". It was a story about a normal man living with Jason from the horror film.

There were some brilliant moments in the film which earned it its first place position. I enjoyed it a lot -- In fact, I enjoyed a good majority of them. I've never laughed so hard at a UNL film fest.

Awesome.

Not to mention, there was a big costume contest. The winner was a pink futon.

HA!

Now onto TwilightFest viewing and voting! :love4::love4:

Congrat Kyle! That is awesome news!

I can't wait to start watching the fest films!

Good luck, man.

See you in CA soon, I hope.

Uhm.... straight from the Twilight Fest rules:

"Films may be entered in other festivals as long as they aren’t screened prior to November 1, 2008."

It isn't November 1, 2008 yet, right? Dude I hope they don't DQ you. That would blow.

I explicitly checked the rules two days ago and it said, verbatum:

"Films may be entered in other festivals provided they don't screen prior to October 27th, 2008."

Why was this changed without any notice!?!??!?!

--

I made VERY sure that I wasn't breaking rules, and when I came upon this statement I decided to enter the UNL fest.

If this was changed last minute, and prior to when I read it, then surely I am exempt from this.

--

Wow, I'm really starting to fume here.
I read this on October 27th at about 3am central time, and quoted it on my buddy's facebook wall in affirmation that we COULD INDEED enter the UNL festival. I then proceeded to submit the film at about 12pm central time here on campus.

I assure you I broke no rules.

Thought I would bring this over to this page, as it is quite important. I hope you are in, they can't really DQ you according to what you said above. But I don't make the rules, I just make bad jokes about them. Best of luck! :)

You are never allowed to air a film before this Fest airs. I don't think they have ever allowed that before?? Not during my time here.

Maybe you should have asked them first to be sure. Hell, I ask them if I can even mention the Fest here itself on another site.

Still, I hope you don't get DQ'd, but if they allow you to enter another Fest they should also have to allow the rest of us as well.

Maybe they'll be cool with it. I have no issues with it.

This is odd. The rules page hasn't been updated since...

And it clearly states...

Where did you read the 27th?

Yeah. I didn't make this up. I never would, and I never have.

I quoted it on a buddy's facebook, like I said, and pulled that quote straight from his wall and pasted it here.

The last thing I want to do is get DQ'd from THIS festival, after all it is the main reason we made this flick.

Anyway, I'm sure I will be exempt. Mods here are pretty legit, and I'm sure one will stop by here soon and clear it all up.

The post was edited, and date was not changed, and that is that.
