"Dead Week" - A film by Kyle Stebbins (and company)

Yeah. I didn't make this up. I never would, and I never have.

I quoted it on a buddy's facebook, like I said, and pulled that quote straight from his wall and pasted it here.

The last thing I want to do is get DQ'd from THIS festival, after all it is the main reason we made this flick.

Anyway, I'm sure I will be exempt. Mods here are pretty legit, and I'm sure one will stop by here soon and clear it all up.

The post was edited, and date was not changed, and that is that.
Then there is nothing to worry about and it's a none issue.

They should announce a change like that with a sticky in this forum or something??

Mike

Dead Week took 2nd place at the Halloween Film Festival!! -- It's certainly no Sundance or Cannes, but it was an absolute blast. Dead Week looked great up there. The projection crew did a fantastic job, and there were some REALLY GREAT entries.

Now onto TwilightFest viewing and voting! :love4::love4:

PS- This is awesome news. Congratulations!!

Kyle since that thread appears to have not been updated for two months, (9/1/08), and you checked it two days ago, I wonder if the following paragraph didn't confuse you?

Barry_Green said:
  • All films must be made between July 15, 2008 and October 27, 2008 and must not have been publicly screened prior to the start of viewing. The entry deadline is 11:00 am Pacific Time on October 27, 2008. The upload system is not yet open; we will announce when uploading is open.
It would explain where you got the 10/27 date mentioned in close proximity to works not screening elsewhere.

Later it says:

  • Films may be entered in other festivals as long as they aren’t screened prior to November 1, 2008.

One thing. While it appears this date has not changed, no body get pissed off or panicked or assume this is an automatic DQ. We have to talk about it so don't take this as a green light yet, but generally that is not the way we try to do it.

Hm. I know Kyle's a legit dude and wouldn't do ANYTHING to jeopardize his ability to screen here and compete... I think this definitely allows for a pass.... and hopefully no confusion next time.

I'm so confused right now, Jack.

I copied that clause STRAIGHT from the TwilightFest rules page.

STRAIGHT FROM IT.

I wonder why I was able to do it.... -- I'm going to check and see if any sites like google cached the page for Monday, the 27th.

I hope everything works out. I'm really sorry if this broke the rules, but I made sure to cover my grounds.

Kyle... I don't see where you got that exact quote b/c as already pointed out that thread hasn't been edited since september 1st.

So, that one is weird. I can see how it might not be very clear the way it is stated, so I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt.

We can just take the earliest date if that keeps you legit. October 27th it is. I don't see a point in making a federal case over a few days. We will clarify the wording of this to be more clear for the future fests as to the hard start date for films to be able to be publicly screened.

Jason

Yeah, I'm starting to question my own sanity.

I've scoured the cache websites of the world, and even traveled all the way back to October 15th, and it still said November 1st.

It's strange because I copied and pasted that exact bit over, like I said.
Very strange. I must have been really tired and just... I don't know... I really have no idea how that could have happened.

I appreciate the understanding.

I told everyone at the fest that I didn't even plan on entering it... and that this film was created solely for DVXuser. (At least for now)

Anyway, I look forward to competing and am sorry for the mishap.

Back to business!

Kyle

Aha!!! I found the post. Must have been a typo on behalf of the author.

Says it right on there, the exact quote I had. It's just on the submission info page, not on the official rules page.

14. Films may be entered in other festivals provided they don't screen prior to October 27th, 2008.

Oh well. All is said and done, and I guess I've proven my point.

Thanks everyone for understanding. I apologize if I have overreacted.

Yeah of course buddy.
Don't worry I wasn't gonna let 'em DQ you over an honest mistake (if I could possibly make a case for it). And now you're teflon since we got to the bottom of where that quote came from and it was clearly our bad.

Haha, I thought I had a good grasp on your sense of humor ;)

Whew. Glad to know I'm not crazy. I swore to myself it was a straight up copy and paste from an official post.

Though I will admit this was all rather exciting!! Not that I'd ever wish it to happen again. =)

Cool. Bring on the viewing!!
