C500: C500 II SDI / HDMI Monitor Out Issues

I'm completely with you Run&Gun. This is a major flaw with the C500mkii. There are currently no solutions to scale down from the SDI OUT terminal unless you're using a rack mounted option from AJA or 2 separate converters from Blackmagic. Best I can come up with is a splitter from Freak Show out of the MON OUT: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...i_distribution_amplifier.html?sts=pi-ps&pim=Y but this needs to be powered. I'm receiving this passive option tomorrow and will test: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1204959-REG/apantac_da_2hd_1_x_2_passive.html

I would also love to know if a passive splitter would work. But it sure seems expensive for a passive splitter, but that seems to be the price range. Here is one from ETS https://www.markertek.com/product/e...sdi-1x2-splitter-1-female-bnc-to-2-female-bnc

Tried this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1204959-REG/apantac_da_2hd_1_x_2_passive.html. It works. So does the Freak Show but it’s expensive and requires power. After spending $20k plus on the camera/EF locking mount, rear EVF and extension unit (not to mention Bright Tangerine cage, mattebox, etc), I’m unsympathetic to paying additional money on 12g monitors, EVF’s, and Teradeks considering I already own these in a 3G flavor. Praying for firmware fix

So this is for splitting the Mon signal, right?

If you want about the best passive 1 in 2 out SDI splitter, not cheap though, but that will handle cameras with 12G/6G/3G/HD/SD-SDI outputs you should maybe have a look at the "dsmb" units. I believe they are about the only 12G passive units out there at the moment. What is good with them is that the input is on on side and the two outputs on the other. Much easier to mount on a camera with that config rather than having the in and outs on the same side.

If you just need passive 3G SDI with the same 1 in 2 out layout as the "dsmb" units and a fair bit cheaper check out the Apantac 1 x 2 passive splitters. I've used these and they work well.

Apantac also have 12G units but only with more outputs and they require external power.
