C500: C500 II: Recording ProRes Raw

Hi there,

Sorry if this question has an obvious answer - but is the C500 II capable of recording prores raw externally? The reason I ask is that the codec handles slightly better when editing. I'm thinking something from the Atomos line would be the way to go - but I've zero experience in external recording devices.

It seems like Canon hasn't allowed any of their new cameras external RAW recording.

(The last one was the C300 Mark II when external RAW recording was getting going, and the camera was already pretty dated at that point.)

I wonder what their reasoning is. Is that something theoretically possible with a future firmware upgrade, if they decide to allow it?

I would say yes since practically every other decently priced camera on the market has external raw recording - including over a dozen stills cameras that shoot video - but Canon is usually the only one who doesn't like to do things like that.

They have the most pride out of all the Japanese companies, IMO, and internal raw (or close to it) is holy for them.

P.S. I think the R5 is the only one that has or will be getting external 8K PR RAW recording.
