C300: C300mk2 real world footage and user reviews.

To be clear, I'm guessing there was a total of 50 cameras in the first batch...each dealer got 1 or maybe 2 ..times 20 dealers so maybe that covers 30-40 cameras leaving maybe 10 that went straight to shows.....again, I'm completely guessing here...to be clear!
I don't mean to put you on the spot - mine were random names and random numbers. Large entertainment conglomerates have their own purchasing departments and often don't have to conduct their business via common retail channels.

I'm very curious to know the difference in weight between Mark 1 and Mark II? I thought I read the Mark II was significantly heavier and would be quite cumbersome for handheld work compared to the Mark 1. I shoot very long days almost exclusively handheld with the c300 1, so this would be a big buzzkill for me. I don't see the weight on the Canon spec sheet.

The weight difference is less than 1 pound (US). Original C300 body is 3.2 lbs, the Mk2 is 4lbs. Weight w/everything is 7lbs.

Not a big fan of the grade on this film or the gimbal work. The image looks "just ok" but it's shooting in some challenging situations. Clog2 is proving to be difficult to expose and grade well for people who aren't used to it yet. I'm pretty curious to see WideDR footage, w/a simple contrast/saturation punch and some minor curve adjustments as that's so often my go-to method for turning out great looking C300/C100 footage.

What's with the dot in the center of the sun? I'd provide timecode but it's in more than one shot.
I own the lens he's using and have never seen that before.

Also, looks over-exposed for log footage.

Well, that dot in the sun only appears in the C-Log footage, not the graded stuff, so maybe it's something that happened to the Log image in the H.264 conversion. There is also banding in the Log, which I assume is just a web-compression artefact.

The distorted wide-angle, hard sunlight, questionable grade and drab backdrop don't make for a very "wow" show, but there is nothing alarming about the picture either... The Log looks very healthy, if I try to minus out the youtube destruction in my mind... Not the best showcase, in any case.

it moves just a very very very little, maybe 1mm, what is enough to make plastic noise, and i worked with several c300 all had same issue.... its the design issue... put your hands inside and shake it just a little.... if u hear nothing , i am surprised!
if sound recorded separately or if u dont need sound..... its not a problem, a little annoying, but nothing critical, with sound on board its an issue!

I just tested my grip handle and realized it had the same issue under the right conditions. There are a set of four small screws on the handle and and and set on the body that are used to attach the teeth and threads. Tighten those screws down and the handle might stop moving and squeaking. That worked for me.

Not only that - but at the moment extra batteries BP-A60 and A30 for the C300 Duo are on back order until mid to late December, which makes the IDX V-mount plate and V-mount batteries as the only power option for field work. Some dealers in the UK have stock, but 0 extra canon batteries.

Blame the Tesla factory for the battery shortage, which is also causing fewer deliveries of C300 II at least in the UK, as no one in their right mind can do anything with a single battery a very juicy camera like the C300 2.

Tesla? I am not a fan of Musk but ... once the Gigafactory goes up, the battery prices are halving.

Canon USA has been shipping plenty of batteries for the C300 Mark II.

We have both the BP-A30 & BP-A60 batteries in stock.
Terry,
How long the BP-A60 batteries last? Will the battery compartment door get closed when you insert this battery? At 500 usd it certainly is not cheap. :( It is as costly as a Sandisk 128 gb cfast card.
Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Using the BP-A60 battery does require that the C300 Mark II battery door be removed similar to the C300 with the BP-975 battery.

Battery Run Times:

BP-A30 115 - 130 Minutes
BP-A60 245 - 270 Minutes

If I shoot on a prime lens, say 50mm on the c300 at 1080, will the field of view be the same on c300 II at 4k on the same 50mm lens?
