My C200 arrived this morning. Thanks again to Professional Video in Portland who were a pleasure to deal with in every way.

I've only just started playing with the camera but so far so good. The EgoDesk 256 GB card is working fine. If you've got any specific questions or want a photo of something (or more raw footage), let me know.

Glad to hear about the EgoDisk. I ordered 3 of them from Amazon. I get mine on Thursday. Some footage would be great. Which lenses are you using with it?

So far, I've just tried an EF-S lens I have, the 18-35 STM lens. It vignettes wide open but that's not a surprise. I have a bunch of other EF lens (35 f/2 IS, 24-70mm f/2.8 II, 70-200mm f/2.8 USM IS II, 100-400mm Mark II, the 135mm f/2, and probably some others I'm forgetting).

I want to see some human faces. Not cow's faces - those were long - but like real humans. Even if they're having salad for lunch.

Hahaha amen. So far we have cows, cars, and a fence sent by people. Humans would be a luxury much appreciated at this point.

Great news about EgoDisk. Have you filled the card fully and checked for dropped frames? Not sure how you would check for that but I assume the camera will throw up an error.

I'd love to get my hands on some RAW footage with a high contrast exterior and/or some people!

Even just a few seconds of each would be amazing. :cheesy:

I'm building a rig for my upcomign C200 and wonder the Handle is M6 screw or 1/4 Inch screw? Thank you.

Why does the 18-35 STM lens vignette? Isn't the C200 sensor large the same of C100 or C300?

EF-S lenses are designed for a sensor smaller than the C series super 35 sensors.

Most third party crop sensors will be fine tho, since they are designed to accommodate other cropped sensors, such as Nikon which I believe is 1.5x compared to Canon's 1.6x crop.

Super 35 would be on that graphic somewhere larger than Canon's APS-C, so EF-S lenses just aren't designed for Super 35, but will often work with some caveats.

Unless you're implying that that lens doesn't vignette on the c100/c300 and only the c200... in which case I have no clue cause those should be the same...

So does also the EF-S 18-135mm F/3.5-5.6 IS STM vignette with C200?

Yes. That's actually the lens I'm referring to; my original comment about the "18-35" lens was a typo. I have the EF-S 18-135mm F/3.5-5.6 IS STM and it vignettes. There's an option to fix it in one of the C200's menu. It could make the edges of the image slightly noisier but I haven't done any real testing yet.

You'd probably be better off turning on the EF-S mode, assuming the c200 has the same function the c100/c300 have, which just crops in slightly on the image in camera

The EF-S lenses are more prone to vignette when shooting in Cinema RAW Light because we are now capturing 4096 (DCI 4K) pixels long as opposed to 3840 (UHD). That extra length peaks into the corners where vignetting is most prevalent.

The Peripheral Illumination Correction will correct for this, but as the manual and fhammond points out, it can increase noise levels - it's all about balancing your needs. My rule of thumb is I only use the Peripheral Illumination Correction when outdoors in bright light as the vignette would be the most noticeable - that's also where the added gain solution will be the least noticeable. I always make sure to turn off the correction when shooting in lowlight.

There is no EF-S Mode like there was on the EOS C100.

Congrats on receiving the camera fhammond! It's a beast!

It's fantastic that you're posting here now, Loren. Panasonic has Mitch and now we have you and I hope all the manufacturers follow suit. It's one of the things I loved about dealing with RED.

Agreed! Very much appreciated and the timing with the release of the C200 is great.
