Journal

Let me start by saying that I am thrilled to begin production on this script, and It should be a great turn out.

I have a lot of faith in this writer, so we will do this together to make a great piece.

A special thanks to Chris Messineo for now directing me to 4 scripts in a row for the past 4 DVXfest's...(Last Date With Jessica, Too Late To Cancel, Time In A Bottle, Brian Butterworth's Bedroom)

I'd like to change the title of this, but I'll discuss that with the writer.

Still have to cast and find the locations. (Not to many either)

Here's to a great film and fest!

September 3rd- Production Day

We have FINALLY set a day to shot, weeks and weeks after Questfest was already done..

Kegan calls me up and says the shoot day is next Thursday, that was like a week in advance, and this was after a while of not really devoting time to the script/pre production, cause I sort of lost faith in it as we had a break from scheduling. It was hard to set the date.

Anyway, I had to work a lot before Thursday was coming so I was trying to get some last minute things done.

I only had the one prop, a wheelchair, which was very easy and affordable to get.

I went over the script, and pictured it out in my head on what shots I wanted.

It's now thursday, the day of the shoot, and I need to go get the DP who lives a half hour from me. Austin Vavrovics, met him off here on DVXuser.

I pick him up, load the dolly, lights, camera, LETUS, and we drive home, not even THINKING of grabbing his tripod. (Mine's broken)

We get to my place, figure out that we don't have a stable environment for the DVX+Letus Combo, so we drive back to grab the tripod. At this point we were rattled, but in the end, it was worth it cause his Tripod was WAY better then mine.

Everyone showed up at noon, and we started filming for 1.

The day took much longer then expected, with a lot of breaks, it ended up being 11pm before everyone went home, except for Austin and I cause we still had to do some pick up shots.

The cast and crew were great, we had many laughs, and it was overall a smooth day..

I want to thank DVXuser because I have found a few people on here that ended up working with me on films. Kegan, Austin, Herman and Raptor so far. A great networking site.

I'll keep you all posted with Still and BTS, and some updates.

Thanks for reading,

Robbie

Robbie,

Welcome to the fest... ivities! I like this already. :) I'm assuming that you're back in Toronto?

How was your visit to Orange County?

Good luck and have fun with this film!

Good luck man, and yeah, preproduction is always an adventure in itself. I surprised that no one has attempted the quest of getting a short made.

I don't see it as a comedy, I'm feeling a quest here. Can't wait to see how!

Good luck!

I am absolutely STOKED!

Who can guess why? My DP should have the RED camera for the shoot....He still has to rent it....If it doesn't come in, we got the HVX...But 90% we'll be able to use the RED, and that's a first for me!

I'll keep you posted on wether we shoot on it or not!

Robbie
