Jane went from like-able character to $^&*-ing a-hole in the blink of an eye.

B*tch had it comin'. Nobody crosses Heisenberg.

Just got to the titles in the latest "Phoenix" and already AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Edit to add, it just keeps getting better.

Also, Jessie's apartment is a lesson in lighting and art directing an "empty" apartment, so that it doesn't look boring. They do a lot with blinds and shadows all over the place.

Walt's decision to not aid Jane is nothing short of cataclysmic and, although out of character, did arrive after we saw changes in Walt's personality. For example, it won't be enough that his family simply receive the money because "he earned it" [and deserves recognition]. And who can forget the poolside drinking scene?

My empathy for Walt has severely eroded.

I wanted to shout at my TV. Walt! Do something! Do something! Help her!

Wow. Just wow. They haven't had a single episode that has been less than great.

It is very very much in character. When it comes down to it, he will do anything to protect his family, and increasingly his meth empire. Even though it is against his gut instinct, he will do what needs to be done. This has been the case with Walt throughout the entire series, from killing the first drug kingpin, to blowing up Tocu's lair to get the money after Tuco beat up Jessie.

He has always done what it takes, even if it goes against his gut instinct to do the "right" thing.

Nonetheless, he is going down a dark path and I can see what jordanov is saying.

"Season one" Walt would have tried to save a choking girl.

He's getting caught up in the rush of making all that fat moolah. I don't think it's all about saving his family anymore.

Well duh. That's what they call in the trade, "character development." Besides, what I said was: "...and increasingly his meth empire." Same character but his priorities are shifting as to what he will do anything to protect.

It's not just about his family. And it's not just about the money. It's also about the emotional release he has needed for some time. The problem is that with Jane's death, Walt has taken on more than he will be able to shoulder. I don't believe he is equipped to live at home and teach with blood (or vomit) on his hands.

Ha ha, I just think it's a natural progression for this guy, not out of left field. He has proven himself the one who is always able to do what it takes.

Besides, I'm not sure I even lose empathy with him. I mean, she WAS threatening to hold this over his head for an indefinite amount of time. And he;s one more in a line of great Anti-Heros stacking up in modern television; Tony Soprano, Vic Mackey, these both are absolutely reprehensible men you should never have a shred of empathy for. But we do...the diff here is we see Walt's journey, those other guys were already bad when we show up.

But the bigger question is: Her dad knows who Jessie is, so when HE finds out, that is going to be a mess.

And the even BIGGER question is, Jessie was willing to tell her EVERYTHING. I think that's going to point toward Jessie having to strap on the cement boots at some point...the guy at Los Pollos Hermanos was right. Ultimately, Jessie cannot be trusted...

But the BIGGER, BIGGER, BIGGER point is: You don't spit in the wind. You don't tug on Superman's cape. And you most certainly do NOT f*ck with Heisenberg.

That's very true. I hated to see that Jessie betray Walt like that. I just hope it never comes to that. Jessie is such a great character and Aaron Paul is such a great actor.

Yeah, Bryan Cranston gets all the glory, and he's great, but it's easy to overlook how good Aaron Paul is in this series. Hope he gets recognized for it.

He nails the role of "shifty drug guy". He's got everything down including the Volcom sweatshirts with the hideous prints.

On a different note....in all this madness, how funny would it be if Skyler was the one who got busted for cooking the books?

I think the turning point for Walt was when he confronted the meth maker in the home supply store. I think it was at that point, he realized that he could have all the power he never had. He could be very good at something and regain all of what he lost back in his scientific discovery days. He's very quickly losing sight of the fact that if he gets caught, he is done for. His drug of choice is power and control. I think it's funny that what the pollos dealer said about not trusting drug addicts applies to Walt. Walt is an addict of a different sorts, and he can't be trusted anymore.
