Break-in...

Sympathy to all at Red. I know from experience how horrible and personal being robbed feels.

But it may be a blessing in disguise. It's a great heads-up on security gaps which need to be filled at a stage where the information stolen is of limited use to the thieves. And when the perpetrators are caught, we will have an idea of the kind of people to be on the lookout for in the future.

Vive la revolution!

... Just be sure to check the place for any kind of bugs.

Maybe being paranoid, as these thieves only seemed to be smart to a point, but might want to check for keyboard loggers, backdoors etc in your network, in the software but also hardware data recorders inserted into keyboards or elsewhere. Even using wireless? :zombie_smiley:

I'm sure the guys at RED are way ahead of me though!

All major leaps of technology are met with fear! They said television was the work of the devil! (I wasn't around, just according to CommArts Profs a few years ago) "They" said the same thing about radio!

I still believe in Red Jim, kick some serious ass
and when you're done, kick some more

All the best from a Red fan

Great to hear, Jim !
First, to me it was as shocking as others might have felt, but now I think surely this break-in stuff will strengthen Red more and more. The Red camera is a revolution, so all the unexpected things can happen. Keep up the good work Jim !

OT, is that that Mr. Anno ? I just realized somebody called Mr. Anno posted at DVXuser.com !

History repeats always itself. A man discovers a revolutionary thing, another man steals the idea and the project and become rich.
This time we have already a rich man, so maybe the things are more balanced.

30,000 view(er)s, well, it is such a record!

hmm, what d'you mean by that Emanuel? Sarcasm ? :Drogar-Dum(DBG):
No, my fellow dvxuser.com member. This is a different place. Anyway, considering what it has happen so many times lately, who knows? Isn't it?

Of course, it's not sarcasm. At least, here. I have all the respect for Jarred and it's not my style. Unless, if it will be strictly necessary with who deserves it. Frankly, how could it be possible in such context? Did you read well those red letters and silver numbers of my signature? I know there aren't capital charaters but they are there...

Still about your answer related to an alleged sarcasm, it wasn't the case. I fully agree with you. But save your tone to other latitudes, if you allow me on that.

If you don't know my posts (you don't, I'm sorry), please do a search if you wish. Thanks.

<PS>

BTW, I don't know if it's the case... Once, abroad, I used a friendly short to a fellow citizen of yours if your real name isn't Kaku Ito. And this person fully misunderstood my words. I was upset. Above all, 'cause unfortunately it wasn't possible to clear up the things and I felt offended. I learnt a lesson: be careful with the words especially when we aren't speak our own mother tongue.

Best Regards,
Emanuel

Well, I don't really know what to say, but I'm sorry if my post did offend you in any way - it was not I wanted.

I know you and Kaku Ito for a while by reading your/his posts here and DVinfo, but didn't know what happened between you and him. (of course I am not Kaku Ito) .

As you say we're not talking with our mother tongue so let's be careful what we say. But what I really wanted to say was that I was shocked reading this original thread as everyone else, got upset, got angry, felt uneasy. I really wanted to express my sorry to JIm and his great team, because I am also the one who has been waiting for the Red revolution as you guys.

Thanks

It's not worthy of notice. Nevertheless, 'cause I mentioned I should explain: I used friendly the short "jap". Later I had came to know it has an offensive meaning after mid-forties. In Europe, it doesn't have the same sense. At least, where I'm coming from (southwest of europe) -- 'cause this/these continent(s) isn't/aren't easy to comprehend.

haha, you bad boy Emanuel :)

If somebody call me "Jap" out of the blue, I might too get upset...
but it's sad you and he could not get over the sheer misunderstanding.

Anyway, let's get back to the topic as somebody might have some valuable info for whodunnit

Rejecting cinematography.com is a very wise decision Mr. Jannard, ok, fanboyism isn´t that good either, but the behaviour on that forum by richard boddington, that grizzly-adams-avatar-guy and some other people is unacceptable.

Grizzly adams! That cracked me up.

I just called him "my fellow jap" but yes, we didn't have this chance. Those texan guys are strange, actually. CH acted preventively (it's true!) and the opportunity was gone (it wasn't even fair including for the three parts but if the third part didn't want to know or misunderstood, what can we do?!...).

All the best and european cheers
Emanuel :)

Those that did this awful deed to team Red are cowards. I'm rooting for you guys and know you will be successful! It's hard to describe the feelings of violation from an event like this (one has to go through it personally, and I have), but those cowards will get nowhere, and with good fortune they didn't get the important materials. Good luck, our collective thoughts are with you.

The important thing is that RED recovered from this. I must also say, with all due respect, that in a VERY small way I am somewhat glad it happened. The crooks did not get away with the "gold" shall we say, but it is clear that there were some security weaknesses in the place where RED is working.

So Jim got a message from above without a massive loss to time or equipment. I have no doubt that security measures are very different over there right now. So now things are safer than they were, and this all could have gone a very different way.

please understand I am NOT saying I am glad this happened.. Just looking at the silver lining.

RED and it's assests are safer than they were two days ago.. And we are now moving into a more critical phase of development. Keep in mind folks there will be a working prototype of this thing in LESS THAN 12 WEEKS. (We hope)

Jay
