Leica 45mm f2.8 Macro-Elmarit
Nice shots! I'm planning on getting extension tubes for my FD lenses to do some macro. Sorry, off-topic. Thanks again lpowell!

Blackout, on your GH13's, are you noticing the time remaining indicator spinning fast like a Poker machine with 24Pn enabled?? Same as me and DrDave?
The FHD/SH Bitrate patch was stable at 50M, and seemed to hit diminishing returns beyond that. It can be set as high as 52M without destabilizing the patch, but I suspect that may reduce some of its safety margin. Conclusive results with fine-grained degrees of tweaking of this sort usually require many trials using a wide range of subject matter....start moving the camera and THIS is where the GH13 CREAM SLAUGHTERS the GH2....
LP - is there anyway to push the avg bitrate up a lil higher and still keep the empty frames out?
If you're concerned about recording errors, I'd recommend my 40Mbps AVCHD High Reliability Patch. While it records in interlaced 24p rather than native, this patch has the strongest track record of reliability that I know of. Unfortunately, there's no good way to record 720p video at 24fps on the Panasonic G-series cameras.
While the peak bitrate of this patch cannot be reliably reduced, the average bitrate can be adjusted by changing the value in PTool's FHD/SH Bitrate patch. This sets the AVCHD encoder's target bitrate for both FHD and SH video modes and is currently set to 50M. If you lower this value, the average video bitrate will drop, but I have not found this to improve reliability at settings above 30M....on your Blackout-Powell Native 24p Patch, is there a way I can lower the maximum bitrate? Do I do this through PTool and what values should I modify for AVCHD 1080p?
This is what I use for most live events because it is so stable and the video looks great. Also, I sometimes bring two cards with the firmware. I'll set up, use the BP patch and watch the counter. If the counter is stable, I stay in 24p. If it looks iffy, just pop in the lpowell 40 firmware card, and in one minute you are good to go. Same for outdoors vs indoors, or if I have something with detailed motion. Its a small difference. If you're concerned about recording errors, I'd recommend my 40Mbps AVCHD High Reliability Patch. By some strange method.... my clock seems to actually be accurate.... I have no idea why... this is with the 32 gig transcend class 10 card..
in theory it should be screwy and be of but perhaps that is only while recording.. after recording I think it actually checks the card space again.... but... if it is checking it for the new hacked avg rate or still 17mbit I don't know. I have been fine with 32 gig cards and shot about 3 hours or more of material...
Compared to FHD 1080p25 mode, the PAL SH 720p50 mode tends to produce a lower average bitrate, around 30-35Mbps. This is probably due to its recording 20% fewer frames than the NTSC 720p60 mode, whose settings it shares. The 720p50 mode appears to be the most reliable of all, however, and benefits from keeping its GOP-size at 12-frames rather than lengthening it to the 1080p25 mode's 15-frames. I'm currently testing these modes and am planning to update the Blackout-Powell Native 24p Patch soon with some improved PAL settings.PAL GH1 GOP 15.
FHD looks truly beautiful!
SH not so beautiful, fine details are full of mud.
