BIRGER adapter for F3, when?

Any feedback from Birger from NAB?
Canon EOS to F3, that is...
I have seen the demos for AF100 and FS100 but not for F3... Anything in the works? Time line?
Thanks?

F3 is coming, along with NXCAM and Alexa... I have already spent "quality time" with an F3. AF100 comes first. Summer is the target for the others.

BTW... We already know how to talk Cooke/i and Arri LDS, and where these pins are on the camera. Unfortunately, this only allows us to put lens data in the viewfinder. We prefer to use the servo (broadcast) lens interface on the front of the camera, as it will additionally allow for control from the camera. This is the right product, and it may take a lot, or a little, work to get figured out. We are hoping for the later. ;-)

I was talking to the product manager at Vistek here in sunny Toronto, he said he bought 10 of the Canon mounts for the f3 at Nab, and brought them home with him - is this true Erik?

Thanks for the update, Erik!
You have one buyer here, 100%...
I love my "L" primes, and I am anxious to mount them on F3...

Can you confirm that following lenses are on your adapter "talky list"?

24mm/1.4 II
35mm/1.4
50mm/1.2
85mm/1.2 II

I second Tata Steva on thanking for the update, Erik! Its great to see people from the company here in the forum, it sure is conforting to see you're listening to this forum and its users!

I'm looking into buying an F3, but having invested heavily in Canon Lenses with the early VDSLR "movement" - like, I believe, most of us over here have- (in my case Over 10K investment to be exact) I just can't see myself investing in a camera if I cannot use this excelent glass. Your adapter is really an essential tool for a camera purchase. Please make this F3 mount a priority!

I have two sony pmw-f3 for 3D, I really, really need the Birger mount for Canon lens

I have two sony pmw-f3 for 3D, I really, really need the Birger mount for Canon lens

If you have it, I will buy 2 mounts right now.
I have looked at the MTF nikon and cannon mounts it just does not work for me, the iris control has just too many limitations. mtf for canon forget it, you need a canon body to change the iris?

If I can have one remote to control two lenses that is exactly what i am looking for.
I can even splice and split the wires to control the two lenses for 3D manually with a switcher.

In any case Birger mount for sony f3!!! guys you will have great bussiness, please do it as soon as you can. Hire reverse engineers, there are lot of them, R&D, Action, Cut, Print.

I have a lot of investment riding on this, please...
Thanks

Just came in the mail, so let's wake up this ol' tread...

In a few hours I am flying off to Stuttgart Germany. Birger will be exhibiting at Vision (www.vision-fair.de). Find us in hall 4, stand B50. We will be demonstrating our real-time focus control system for Canon EF-mount lenses. We will be using an Imperx camera for the demonstration.

On the broadcast front, we are finishing off the final details on the adapter for the Sony PMW-F3, and expect to start shipping after we get back from Germany. We were forced to go back to the drawing board, when we came to realize a few seemingly minor changes between the production and preproduction cameras would have a major impact in the geometry of the product. We're talking to the camera and powered from the camera, so no cables are required. After seeing the announcements for the new Canon and Red cameras on 3 November, I am convinced that the winning camera for those wanting to shoot Canon lenses at this price point, is going to be the PMW-F3 with a Birger adapter. Neither of the other manufacturers talk about supporting real-time servo follow-focus - like we have supported on the Red-one for many years now.

The cost reduced broadcast products, for the Panasonic AF-100 and the Sony FS-100, are still in a bit of a holding pattern. We're going to burn off the initial demand for the F3 before putting these into production. With the holidays coming up, and the family time I and my employees do not plan to give up this year, January is the new target for volume shipping. We'll have first articles out to Sony and Panasonic, and our dealers before the end of the year. We are not supporting any further demos for broadcast until we get to first articles.

The great news is on the manufacturing and distribution front. These past few months, as we have brought our new manufacturing capabilities online, we have taken a few week detour to apply these processes to all of our existing products. We have been able to realize enough of a cost savings, and reduction in field failures to the point that we are able to apply our new, distribution friendly pricing model, to all of our existing products. When we return from Germany we will re-engage with those that have expressed interest in reselling our products.

Regards, Erik.

+1. But hope it is as well-built as the ProLock

Ned

Just as ProLock, Birger sharpen their teeth with previous product catering to Red crowd... I have no doubt that after such a long wait ( I spoke with Eric back in I think March about this adapter, over the phone...), they would not allow any "issues" once the product is out... Once I get it, my Sony F3 Kit will be finally done as far as lenses go. Digital recorder? That's another story, for another tread....:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Great news ! anybody knows about IS support ? can't find any info about it
Very happy with my "old" Nikkor set image wise but after being spoiled with stab lenses the stabilization is essential for me on a shoulder set up
