BIRGER adapter for F3, when?

I agree. I gave up on them. Anyone looking for a F3 mount for Eos lens should check out the Red Rock Live lens. You need to get the M2 mount to eos and then a f3 to M mount. A great little company in Italy sells that mount called Smart systems. Sound like a lot of messing around, but its not. Very compact and works great.

8 weeks?
OK, I can wait another 8 weeks...
What looks strange that after all those missed announcement dates (last one being last fall) they still don't have a proper "final" product???
So, being an optimist I hope they will finally deliver by this summer...

Unless I was dreaming I saw the working prototype at NAB, but I'm all Nikon so who cares. 1/3 increments on the f stop and what seemed like more trouble all around, but that might be very premature of me as I didn't play with it .

I saw it at NAB, the focus was exquisite and perfectly controllable. The iris changes were more noticeable, I don't know the increment but 1/3 sounds about right. That may or may not be addressed in the final version, I don't know, but the focus was amazing considering it was a stills lens. Focus was pretty much perfect.

Here's a demo of the Birger on an F3 from NAB, making 1/4 stop aperture changes.

I'd like to get a Birger for my AF100... if Erik releases by summer.

yes there are! they updated the website - http://www.birger.com/ :

The Birger exhibits in April at NAB 2012 (Las Vegas) and in May at the AIA Vision 2012 (Boston) are now complete. Birger demonstrated lens control systems on Sony (FS100, FS700 and F3), Panasonic (AF100), Red (EpicX and One) and Imperx (Bobcat) cameras. Photo below is our exhibit at NAB 2012, featuring the soon-to-be-shipping Canon EF Lens Adapter for the Sony PMW-F3.

Apart from they're now using twitter to announce products, I don't see any new information?

"Details and ship dates for our new Broadcast products will follow at a later date."
...sound familiar?

well Birger failed again! for a few months before the NAB Birger told that the exact dates will be at NAB, at NAB Eric told that F3 version will be out for sale with in 2 month, and well its not!

but at least seems like Eric showed the final fully functional product at NAB...

Doesn't seem like this market is much of a priority for Birger?
The F3 will be almost obsolete before they get their act together.
The phrase 'missed the boat' springs to mind!

Give them a little break, I'm sure they a working as hard as possible. They started out with Canon and I'm sure that was a huge investment of money and time. And they are not a huge company. Plus dealing with Sony in Japan, getting permissions, schematics, etc is not an easy task. That right there can take months and months. I'm sure they would like to be selling it as soon as possible to recoup the investment they have already made.
Just as the guys over at "blank" Cameras, they had to pretty much bench a F-3 top plate, because of endless runarounds from Sony. And they had close to $40,000 invested in that one aluminum plate, so God knows what they have invested...

I think they went to big with it. To much tech. All people wanted was to use a canon lens and control the iris. If you get IS and auto focus then that would be a bonus.

Give them a little break

I respectfully disagree, they do not deserve a "break." Delays and complications happen to many companies, that's understandable. What is not OK is continually promising dates - sometimes just a few weeks ahead - and than breaking that again and again for literally years on end. Imagine if you did that with a client on a project you're shooting/editing. This is business - either deliver when you say you're going to deliver or stop promising dates you obviously can't meet. I hold myself and any other business to that common sense standard, there's nothing unusual or harsh about it.

I find it strange that it is so difficult to just bring us an adapter that mounts a Canon EF lens onto the F3 and power aperture/IS. The F3 has enough juice to power their ENG style zoom and MTF/Optitec figured out how to power everything except to do it without an external powersource. Birger also had aperture change displayed on the F3 but sadly went to big and didn't settle on just an adapter for starters. That would have been a sure sale.
