BIRGER adapter for F3, when?

Andrea Falcucci from Smart System (www.smartsystem.it), said me that the new EOS EF to Sony PMW-F3 adapter will be available on his on-line store on tuesday 8th.
This adapter works with the famous Live Lens from Red Rock Micro (http://store.redrockmicro.com/Catalog/LiveLens-active-lens-mount-for-Canon-EF-lenses) the one that you can use with the M2 or M3 Cinema Lens adapter.
If you own the Live Lens you're lucky, because the Smart System adapter is cheap and very well made.
Here are some pictures of my prototype:

BUT, if you don't own RedRcock M2 adapter already, by the time you buy it and you buy this "cheap" adapter for 500€ from Italy ( got the quote from the source), it will be almost as Birger or more... The fact that Birger annouced that the powernfor their adapter will be from the camera directly is a game changer for me. As far as i know all other prototypes (mtf included) has external power source. That means more cables and more batteries hanging off F3. I don't want that for various reasons...
Again, i am sure that Birger adapter (after such along delay), will be a winner...

I will verify the price, but I don't think it will costs 500 € (probably about 300 € but I will check tomorrow morning).

Hi Tata,

the Smart System adapter costs 249 €.
As I said, it's cheap and very well made.

Thanks Filippo,
I guess I got the wrong quote. I don't doubt in quality of the product (I checked other items on the web), but on the other hand I lost all confidence in quality of RedRock... I am trying to get rid of all their stuff as I found after an extensive use they fall apart (the rig, handles, FF,...). SO I don't want to get more RR stuff...

Mitch (or anyone else)... Any idea of price point yet?

I don't think I should quote a price until all is done and shipping. I know whay Birger is planing but I want to see where it actually lands first, just in case they run into any additional manufacturing issues.

I'd say that the price is exceedingly reasonable.

Fair enough.

Confirmed. That was the very frst thing Erik showed me.

Groovy!
I am in!
As far as price goes, I will easily "swallow" anything less than the price of average high speed Canon EOS lens (<$1400). Anything more than that would be a "hard pill"... But, for reason of having the set of best high speed Canon glass (24, 35, 50, 85) I will buy it...

You're welcome Tata!
I think that the Smart System adapter is great for all Live Lens owners and if you don't wanna wait the Birger one.

seems like another delay from birger.... they promised to deliver in late November.....but again no a single word!

Well at least the AF100 Birger adapter will be out in December 2010... oh... wait...

...and wait... ...until the AF200 and F4 hit the shelves... then maybe.

That's unfortunately only to be expected from the industry's most unreliable manufacturer. I spoke with a salesman at a major retailer - they view Birger as a joke and have a running bet in the sales dept. on if Birger will ever deliver. That's what happens when you give bad info to the public a dozen times over.

No, Red had much longer delays and more missed deadlines. Birger did produce the mount for the Red. (Just joking but...) maybe they spent too much time associated with Red. :2vrolijk_08:

Anybody has ANY news about this adapter? It's not sad any more, it's pathetic... I still want to use my nice set of EOS primes on F3, and NO I don't want Italian/RedRock or MTF version... And no, I don't want C300...

this whole thing with birger reminds of those legendary cinemek dof adapters macgregor used to shoot with...I was on their waiting list for about a year and a half and tthen when I already sold my letus extreme adapter I finally got a mail saying their adapters are finally in stock...no kiddin!

I hope Birger's military contracts are good because they're totally screwing up potential commercial sales. Maybe it's not a market they're really bothered about? We'll have all moved onto the F5 before they get an F3 adaptor out!

Have you seen what these guys are doing for the NEX?
http://conurus.com/sony/buy-eos-nex-adapter

I hear a rumour that they are going to do one for the FS100 but If they also adapted it for the F3 they'd clean up....

Well i've seen what a Canon lens looks like on an F3 , with a simple adapter, and you will be better served by another solution. It's a waste of a great sensor to put a weak piece of glass on this camera.
