i found this nice kit, from "the cine city" and its come with follow focus, shoulder mount off center, and height adjuster for DSLR cameras, comes with cage holder and mattebox with case and all accessories for liek $870 on http://www.thecinecity.com

But i found there are 20 different websites around selling these things. 1 is in los angeles and one in texas, although the cine city is in india. Some things are on amazon, and ebay. this perticular kit is only on ebay not amazon.

Are they legit? will i get ripped off? This rig looks mainly of aluminum and decent build quality. Also will i have to wait along time for delivery?

thanks for the help!

They are indeed legit, as many people on here have ordered.

I don't recommend ordering from them. I have a few of their products and they are absolutely horrible cheap metal, which bends very, very easily. (I have the top handle adapter which is shown there, it bends easily)

I recommend you save your money and buy from a local vendor, such as express35.com or something.

The Proaim stuff is pretty amazing. A lot of it looks like it was finished with flat-files and the original metal was some sort of scrap. Lots of off-center thread taps, poor quality machine screws, questionable plastic. It can work but you will want to swap out a lot of the parts eventually and you will have to decide if its actually worth the time and expense. All-in-all I would pass on it and look at some of the Chinese products, particularly Trusmt. I have quite a few components on my rail/FF/lens support rig that are Chinese origin and I'm impressed with the quality.

what about indiefilmdepot.com? i have been talking to a guy there named brandon and its located in california and they sell proaim stuff, he said he could get me the "kit-20(c)" for 899 shipped which is about 50 bucks cheaper than thecinecity website. also he said 5 days tops on shipping.

I do use their matte box on one of my rigs; for the money it was a killer deal, with all the features you could want. I did have to grind the corners off the flags to get them seated more firmly, but the thing's been robust. If you buy, buy from a US distributor and make sure they have a no-hassles return policy.

That said, it seems like there's hundreds of people manufacturing this stuff. Check jag35.com for instance - their stuff is decent for the $$. Search a bit more & see what you find.

I DON'T recommend their stuff. It's cheap, flimsey and not worth any bit of the $900 price tag. Honestly, the only althernative from Redrock are the Gini rigs, specifically the 17 Extreme . You'll have to buy a couple of extra items (gear rings, speed crank/whips and a mattebox) but the build quality is fantastic and you can easily save your self some money. Look on cheesycam.com for the link to the seller on ebay. He currently don't have any 17 extreme's listed but i'm sure if you send him a message he can sell one out to you directly. They go for about $550 plus shipping. As someone who owns a complete Redrock rig, this is the only alternative I would go for. but what ever you do, pass on the Cinecity/DVcity stuff. Junk

My two cents.

have you ever heard of indiefilmdepot.com?

Honestly, I don't think it's a matter of customer service at this point. The guys might be great and willing to work with you on price, cut you all sorts of deals. But the fact remains: the products really aren't that good and definately not worth the price point they have it listed as. You'd be better off scouring eBay and piecing together a rig yourself. I have owned one myself and never used it. Sold it as quickly as I got it.
