DNxHD or ProREs, Or Something Totaly Diffent
Define "better".
And no, Cineform is not available inside Mpeg Streamclip.
After watching the 3rd Zacuto series , DSLR shootout, they go into detail, saying that Using any other codec
like prores and such makes a huge difference..
so Since I have been using DNxHD for Vegas, I was wondering if people who also Use DNxHD have switch to a better codec, SMALLER, Better Color, ans so on.
So is this better than Cineform?(quality wise)I used DNxHD but just purchased DVfilms EPIC 1 which makes a proxy on the fly and I think uses the original. Seems to work great but anyone have any differant oppinions on it? I don't know how vegas can use the non-codec files but it seems to...or perhaps they are using a codec?

Well I don't yet have a pulldown program. I use Sony Vegas pro 9, After effects CS4 and minimal Premier Pro. Now I did download the DNxHD BUT I can't find it anywhere is there a way that I need to use this? I couldn't even find it in sony vegas or premier. ThanksBetter? Maybe. Certainly different. Proxy editing or online/offline editing has deep roots and it prevents generational loss but it can be problematic in some areas. Cineform has some real drawbacks too, but if it works for you, it's excellent.

Cineform is a pretty clear winner in my book (though it is quirky, a bit buggy) - quality is best even compared to ProRes due to custom luminance and chroma smoothing specifically tuned to 7D to a 10-bit file.
Hey thanks,
Let me know what those are like as well. I just did 2 renders with the DNxHD 1080 24 codec and not so clear as I want. My original AVCHD footage is crisp. I will experiment more though. I will most likely try the cineform as well. Thanks again
Except for that pesky color space conversion Cineform does whether you want it or not. Fine for broadcast, not fine for going elsewhere.
Cineform says it's a Vegas thing, Vegas says it's a Cineform thing. Nothing is "Lost" and I would like to see this improved in Vegas if you read this - some good discussions of the issue (Plus Cineform has a couple of tech notes).

It is buggy, but as long as you know what you need for output, read your scopes, Cineform is the best codec I've seen in Vegas for 7D footage.
