Best Codec for Vegas

I used DNxHD for my last piece, and i have to say as much as it makes the footage very very stable in premiere pro, without crashing even once ( compared to the native mov files that would frequently enough crash a project ) I really cannot stand the color/image/gamma shift that occurs during the conversion.

May fork out a few dollars and give cineform a try.

First, let me say that I do not do Premiere, and haven't in a very long time. That said, I've converted work in Avid, FCP, Vegas, MpegStreamClip, and several other conversion programs to DNxHD, and NONE have had a gamma shift. Zero. I even posted an A/B video on Vimeo the last time this came up.

So either this is unique to Premiere, or there is something odd about how you are doing your conversion.

On the other hand, Cineform doesn't DO RGB color space so EVERY clip will shift. Always.

AFAIK, the bugs in this are fixed last year - as long as you setup your Vegas Projects (google Glenn Chann's excellent Vegas Colorspace info) - no gamma issues in Vegas with Cineform.

Good to hear it's been fixed. I hope that helps some folks out. I had to move on to other things.
