An SD monitor is difficult to properly focus with, when setting your marks you are not recording, thus you will have HD on the monitor. This will allow you to set your marks easier and then use the SD signal to compose your shot while recording. So yes, HD would be better.
I was leaning towards the Small HD. It does give a 720p, not 1080p like the Manhattan, but it is lighter, which is a big deal.
That Manhattan you link to accepts a 1080p input (just like the Small HD) but the actual screen resolution is 1024x600.
So it seems that I should stick with the Small HD, eh?
Small HD doesn't say it supports 1080p, just full 720p from what I can see.
The Manhattan says it supports 1080p, but its not even 720p really.
The marshall; http://www.dvcreators.net/marshall-electronics-7-lcd-monitor/ has a lot of great features on it that other monitors don't have like false colour & peaking filter for focus. Which I can find very useful, however it is 800 x 480rogar-Thinking(DBG
Yea I was thinking about the Marshall too. I know its expensive, and that sucks, but I find I have worse buyers remorse if I talk myself into something less that I didn't really want. So what do you guys think about the Marshall 651ST-HDMI? That's the one I am thinking of getting.
The supplied manual makes reference to the fact that when recording the output signal is SD, but the recording to the SD card is HD. Perhaps Canon doesn't want to eat in to sales of the 7D...

Do you think they will release a firmware update to support hd output whilst recording? Can the 5d do this? I know the 7d can.
