Batman goes Nutzoid!

Come to think of it this was better than his whole acting on two Batman movies he did all together.
I sure hope nobody messed with him when they shot Amercain Psycho.

Could this by any chance be a publicity stunt ?

I heard on a set here in Atlanta, an actress wanted some "peaches" (since she was in GA) and asked a PA to go get her some. The girl made a mistake a brought the actress plums. So the actress got mad and started to throw the plums at her. All she had to do was ask if the girl would go get her some peaches, and wait another 10 minutes. I feel this is the point when people start to belittle others.

I see your point, but there's a difference between an actress throwing fruit at a PA for bringing the wrong kind, and an actor chewing out a seasoned, experienced DP for doing something that he should never do, in the middle of a scene.

Did Bale need to go on and on? No, but he has a right to be pissed. He actually seemed to be calming down in the middle, but then the DP starts making excuses, when he should have just shut up.

This happened like six months ago...Love the remix, now I'm waiting on the Christian Bale Soundboard at ebaumsworld so I can listen to prank phone calls....and I think "Trash his lights!" should now be British Slang for kicking someone's ass.

McG did all he could do - be a mediator and passive. Anything more than this would have made Bale walk.

I guess I just don't think it's OK for an actor, or anyone for that matter to take that kind of tone or give out that amount of verbal abuse in a professional work environment. If the DP was out of line, or doing things wrong, his boos (not CB) should call him out on it. I feel like there is a way to run sets and there is a way not to.

What if CB had been doing something to impede the job of the DP? Would the DP have yelled at CB? Doubt it...

riiiiiiiiight. we all know how level-headed DPs are about THEIR work.

On a pro set like this one, it is actually the First AD who is responsible for managing this. Not the director. You've heard the saying "it may be the director's movie, but it's the AD's set"?

And you can hear the 1st AD is the first one to TRY and say something, and immediately shuts down.

Why? Because if you read the follow up of the producer who is currently defending the tape...its none other than Bruce the 1st AD.

Because more and more 1st ADs are also taking producer credits to get more money. Same deal on Twilight.

And the 1st AD wussed out because he didnt want his star to walk.

Agreed, but it's the same mentality. If Christian Bale had been working on his first set, he would have never cussed out anyone. He would have been more humble. but now he's the go to guy because of the Batman franchise which he didn't make - Almost every Batman movie has been successful. So now he has an attitude.

My problem with some actors is that they get arrogant and think they are God's Gift to the world or at least to the set. "I'll walk!" that alone says how he feels - you need me. I'm starting to think more and more it's just best to avoid any actor who is starting to get an attitude. Everyone is there to work and create a project.

Amen to that

All I'm suggesting is that I don't think a DP would yell at an actor for doing something he shouldn't because it's not his place. Maybe I'm wrong, but I am a nice guy so....

After seeing the director of "I heart Huckabbes" going off on Lili Tomlin, I believe many "artists" have mental issues! LOL But that doesn't mean that you should just go off. It's still humility that's missing. I guess when you're paying people $150K a month, it's hard for them to give a crap. On in CB's case more like 5 mill a month.

I don't know it that's true. He may have been the same way then. And getting angry doesn't mean you aren't humble. Again, I'm not saying Bale handled it well, I just don't know how much of this comes from 'star attitude'. I've worked with amateurs who have acted worse.

And the more I listen to the clip, the more it seems like he is really trying to get a handle on his emotions. I am not saying that he needed to do that, but he comes across as a person who cares about what he is doing, is under a lot stress and overreacts. He doesn't come across to me as being a petulant or whiny person as much as someone trying to get his job done and handling a situation poorly.

The only analogy I can draw off the set is the fights I have with my wife. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it's like Nagasaki. Why? Because I care so damn much about it and I am completely emotionally invested. You don't get mad about stuff that doesn't matter to you.

unless someone's life is at stake, there is never an excuse to treat another human being like that. period.

out in the real world, Bale would have gotten his f**king ass beat but since he's a "star" and working on a "Hollywood" movie, he gets a blank check.

I worked with Stephen Dorff a couple years back and never thought I would meet a bigger a**hole..... Bale just might be.

I guess that's true. It's funny... I think I've maybe had 1 breakdown just lost it with my wife. So mad I had to leave the house and I drive 16 miles to the nearest city. But I've only been that mad once in the last 15 years. But I see your point, although I don't see why someone would get that mad on set. Heck my budgets are so low you'd think I'd be that mad at all times, I can't imagine working on a 100 million dollar set and being that worried. :)

The more I read responses here, the more I think about it, it's hard to condone that kind of behavior in any capacity.

I can understand getting worked up, and I can understand getting angry. I sat in once on a friend's father doing neurosurgery on someone's spine. Something didn't go just right while I was there. It wasn't even to the point of being a scare, but the doc handled the situation cooly and with control.

So I have a real difficult time seeing that behavior as ok in something as non-important as making a friggin movie. Yes, I know we all love it and it's something so many of us do, but it is still not something that will make of break humanity.

He was out of line like so many actors, directors, musicians, and whatnot. Just because he has a high opinion of himself, and so many people of the like do (for some reason), doesnt' excuse that, and yet he will never get called on it beacuse he knows he can ruin or hurt a production. That kind of power makes people act just like that.

Dude, totally wrong. You can get arrested in England for verbal abuse, he didn't get convicted and the charges were dropped. His mom and sister tried to 'blackmail' the guy for $200K. Wouldn't you get pissed?

Co-signed.

If someone behaved like this to another person in say, Grand Central Station, they'd get hauled off to jail. If they pulled that crap at a bar, they'd get their lights knocked out.

Why is the movie set some magical place where all bets are off and this behavior is accepted? In all these instances I've heard where "stars" lose their *&^t (Orson Welles, William Shatner, Bill O'Reilly) the production crew has the patience of saints. But I gue$$ that's cuz that have to.
