Thanks NorBro. Interesting story behind this shoot, we walk into Holly's living room to discover that not only does she have her own reality show, key parts of her house are already lit! The shot above is lit by 14 of the big Arri Skypanels, all we added was a hair light on her and Donnie and a fill light on her since the Skypanels were up so high on the ceiling. Got to play with a DMX board for the Skypanels, that was fun. First time I have lit an interview with about $40k worth of LEDs. Seriously, how many times have you walked onto a location and had it pre-lit for you? It was nice, a once in a lifetime gift since we were really crunched for time. I was stressed as it was a three camera shoot and we had one hour to set up all three cameras, dress/art direct the BGs, mic her and Donnie and light it all. Arri Skypanels are nice lights. This is a lot flatter than I would have lit it from scratch, but all things considered, client was happy, producer was happy and we got three good angles with less than an hour to set it all up.

We have been doing this thing where we loosen all of the locks on the heads, includng leveling and just draw slow ovals and figure eights with the lens on the talent. It doesn't look exactly handheld but it's more interesting than a lock off. I'm not good enough to shoot an hour handheld and have it be steady, this is a way around that that gives it a bit more of an organic look.

I believe there is an Alexa emulation profile that is available for the C300 MKII, not sure who makes it, it might be a LUT and not a picture profile but a couple of DPs have told me that they have shot with it and it makes the C300 MKII look good although if you A/B it with an Amira, you can easily see the difference that the Arri brings. I don't think there is anything like that for the C100 or C300 MKI, but who knows?

Will def give the tripod loosened organic look a try, as for an alexa lut, yeah perhaps not enough range in the C100/300mk1's... all good info!
 
Two days ago UPS dropped off a package with a BP-955 battery, and today I finally got the charger that goes with it. As well as the top handle, the carrying strap, and the C100 DPAF body. So now I got one battery charged, one in the charger, the camera registered with Canon USA, and I'm deep into reading the manual. I've got two lenses that works; one EF-S 18-55 3.5-5.6, and one EF 75-300 4-5.6 USM. I think I'll be spending some time on eBay in the near future looking for the 17-55 and the 18-135. But no hurry, what I got will work for now. I also have an Atomos Blade coming in a few days. Can't wait to put it all together and do some test shooting.

Yep, I received my two C100 DPAF cameras on Tuesday as well. Super excited to try them out! I have a gig on Monday where I'm using one of them on a corporate shoot. We'll see how it goes!
 
I have been getting notifications from B&H about a $500 price dropforvthe c100 mkII on Sunday for 3 days. Anyone else see this?
 
It's on my Facebook adds from B&H. don't know how to link to that. When I click on the link it shows the same price of $3999.00. That's why Im asking if anyone else has seen this? I'm assuming the $500 price drop as they say is off the $3999.00.
 
Ha! Yeah, I got one of those B&H ads for another product that showed a good price, but the site didn't reflect it. Called them up and they said no, that ad doesn't mean anything, tough luck, buy it at the higher price or don't buy it at all.
Really disappointed in them. They used to be really good about customer service and standing behind what they sold and what they advertised. Now I'm not so sure.
 
Andries, glad you could confirm that as well. I was getting ready to call B&H too. Yea it definitely said $500 off, don't know why they advertise that and not honor it.
