C100: BandH special until 11/28. C100 Body only

The C100s are very popular...when they finally make a 4K one, they will relive 5D Mark II numbers.

Canon can be frustrating, but the cameras are always solid.

Awesome, thank you!

My only concern is that I will be disappointed with the lack of features of the Mark i compared to the Mark ii. Since I have a Zacuto Gratical HD, I'm not so worried about the mark i EVF (I hear it's not very good). However, the mark ii is better in low light, has a 60fps mode, and has improved colour.

Is it likely that the C100 Mark ii will go on sale any time soon as well - especially since we should expect at Mark iii in the near future? Does BH give you an option to cancel the order before they ship since it's considered "non-returnable"?

I've had 2 of these for the last 4 years. The sticks are fantastic and the head works well enough for the C100 plus telephoto lens. I think it's a good system for the money. Someday I'll upgrade the heads, but for most things it works really well for me.

yea you can cancel the order before it ships out. I know this because I actually just cancelled mine just now LOL. The reason for this is that I discovered that adoroma has the same deal going now!!!! So I just purchased the C100 DPAF through them right now. They have the one without DPAF up for sale as well.

The Mark II has been getting a bunch of instant savings for the last few months...all kinds of bundles available.

The deals on the two C100 models are just unbelievable. The MkII model is $1,700 above the DPAF and to me that is just not worth it. I'd rather spend the money on an external recorder, probably one of the Atomos models and maybe some new glass. However; if you need the MkII features $3,999.- is still a pretty good deal.

I too wondered if there might be a MkIII right around the corner which could drop the price of the MkII, but this deal was too good to pass up while the MkIII is not guaranteed in any way.

So, anyone have any thoughts on what tripod works well for the C100 with a 70-200mm lens? I'm thinking about this one:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/683561-REG/Manfrotto_504HD_535K_504HD_Head_w_535_3_Stage.html

I like the Manfrotto MVH500A I use with my GH4, but it's not heavy-duty enough for the weight of a bigger camera. Would the 504 head work well?

It says max load 16.5 lbs. That would be plenty sufficient for the C100 plus pretty much any lens you can think of. I have a Manfrotto 503 head that I bought way back for my DVX100B and external monitor. I've also hung my sound bag with my Fostex FR-2LE and SD Mix-Pre D on it with no problem at all. I think the 504 is an upgraded/updated version of the 503 so I don't think you'll have any issues. But you could call B and H and ask. They're good at answering such questions.

I paid $5,500.00 for my C100 MKI with the 18-135 STM IS two years ago. So either version at those prices is a good deal, they are a great little camera, I still prefer shooting mine with the Blade to the C300 MKI. But the C300 MKII is in a whole other class. If you can get by with a 1080 only camera, this is a screaming deal.

Good to know. I've got a lead on a used one that I'm buying tomorrow. We'll see how it works. Thanks!

Would you guys suggest getting DPAF for weddings and events? I figured I could maybe get by using One-Shot AF... I'm really considering getting one of these and picking up a 24-105mm ii with the extra cash.

Definitely man. The DPAF works best for those unpredictable situations and weddings are full of those.

This video will show u the benefits for shooting weddings on this beast: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnOuVHX9CVU

How do you handle the extra noise on the Blade? I'd shoot to my Ninja2 more but it can be more noisy at times. That 18-135 is pretty handy!

Hmm...I don't notice any additional noise from the Blade. I have done split screen edits to compare the AVCHD and the Blade footage and I see no difference between the two, other than AVCHD, you can "break" the codec easier. Same with green screen. I have a client who much prefers me delivering Prores HQ to them over AVCHD so the Blade the has been wonderful, a huge asset to my business.

The one shot AF is MUCH better in.the dual pixel model since it does not rely only on only slow contrast detection.
