Avatar - James Cameron Returns! (Spoilers in thread, obviously!)

It's just that there really are some genuine floating loose ends, that no one seems interested in parodying...
Ah-ha! – I think I know what you’re talking about:

Was it that Michelle Rodriguez’s character appeared to have suffered an 'unfortunate' (and inexplicable) tear to her tank-top’s décolletage at some point during the final act?

I don't think Michell Rodriguez has anything quite as delicate as "decolletage".

That's not a loose end. That's a plot point.

Saw Avatar again in IMAX 3D and I have to say, on second viewing, it really is a pretty freakin' amazing movie. This time I just let myself passively take in the scenery and it's really staggering what they accomplished when you examine it. And the IMAX theatre's extra bit of sharpness allowed me to see all the detail that much more clearly. That said, as I mentioned in the IMAX thread I was slightly disappointed the image didn't fill the screen top to bottom. It was reduced slightly in the center of the screen and really didn't look dramatically better than the REAL3D version I first saw. This was a real IMAX theater too. Anyway, it's not really surprising how much money this film is making. Sometimes we forget that the main reason people go to the movies is to escape from their mundane reality, and whatever you think of Avatar, it truly takes you someplace.

I actually liked the look of the film a bit better at the screening (what format do they project at the Chinese...?) than when I saw it again in IMAX. The fill-your-field-of-view part was fun, but the imagery seemed softer, too, which IMO was not a benefit.

The Chinese was either Dolby 3D or RealD. The image in my IMAX theater looked a hair sharper to me. As for the aspect ratio I guess I didn't just get a bad theater either, as this article says all Imax was going to be shown cropped, as Cameron felt the full IMAX frame was too overwhelming for people in the closer rows--

I'm watching the Colbert Report rerun right now, so forgive the format of this question, but:

Avatar sequel--bad idea, or worst idea?

Look, I love the movie, but can a sequel hold up? God knows, I don't want to see "Avatar: Reloaded" and "Avatar: Revolutions..."
