King of Australia
Usually I laugh at these silly comparisons but it's hard not to see the obvious similarities.
EDIT: Avatar seems to follow a solid story structure which I'm sure Pocohontus wasn't the first to utilize.

Cameron and Gibson are neighbours.
In the end Cameron asked everyone present to give themselves a round of applause.
I saw this exact quote last night from 'hodgman' aka John Hodgman on Twitter.Mel Gibson's neighbor just wants Hollywood to give it up for Hollywood.
I always cringe whenever Cameron gives acceptance speeches.
He's gracious to his cast and especially his crew. I don't see anything there except something that more directors might think to emulate.
And referring to a ship solely by name - ie Nimitz for the USS Nimitz or Titanic for the RMS Titanic - is long-standing and widely-accepted practice.
Perhaps the solution is to avoid listening to his acceptance speeches. Less cringing, that way.
Regardless, it's impossible not to agree that the phrasing is just downright bizarre.
The fact that I had to INFERE that he was talking about the people who had died on the Titanic shows his complete and absolute estrangement from any notion of humbleness.
I just also like to point out the foibles of his movies' marketing and how completely (though probably well-deservingly) full of himself Cameron is.

Have you seen it, yet? Or are you basing your comments about the movie on what selected others have said?:huh:Geez. Well now I HAVE to see it...
BLUE SAM WORTHINGTON
What the ****? Floating mountains? How did “floating mountains” make it all the way from script to storyboard to rendering without anyone asking how mountains can float while people just walk around?
BLUE ZOE SALDANA
The best part is that the floating mountains have waterfalls. Where is the water coming from?
The rest is here. It's a fun read.
