Avatar - James Cameron Returns! (Spoilers in thread, obviously!)

Only $100k left to beat Star Wars in domestic .. and that's probably already happened since BoxOfficeMojo updated their site. Amazing.

I am down south this weekend at Lake Okeechobee and their movie theater won't even be showing Avatar until Jan 22 and in 2D. This little cowtown has one theater with three screens and they aren't open every day. Right now, they are showing Book of Eli, Its Complicated, and Alvin and the Chipmunks.

People who are interested are traveling to the coast where there are 3D/Imax screens.

Check out the lower edge of this pic that I just spotted:

Everyone here should recognize that viewfinder.

I posted a video probaby 30 pages back by now but they also utilized about 74 (that I could see) panasonic monitors that most people here use.

Yeah I saw that video, great BTS.

I couldn't quite tell for sure; but I'm guessing that all the HD reference cameras where Panasonic too. With all that insane amount of footage, I can see it a perfect (and extreme) application for P2's Meta-data capabilities.

That was just one angle with the 9+ video cams, they were all over the place. Probably no less than 60 at any one given time.

Here are the numbers as of this morning:

International weekend = $125M
International cume = $1.115B
Domestic weekend = $41.3M
Domestic cume = $491.8M
Worldwide cume = $1.606B

$200M from Titanic's record (not adjusted for inflation)

Avatar-forums.com and their IRC channel pretty much just exploded when they announced best director.

We shall see if it gets the big one (Best motion Picture - Drama) here in about 30 min...

Zak's been drinking again...

Think he means it's alright for a big budget epic to still win categories like best drama.
