FS7: Availability update thread

UK update. Apparently ProAV getting 3 more in this week - all pre-allocated - and then my camera should be in the next batch.

I don't know what their policies are, but I'd suggest trying E.C. Pro based in New York. I bought my PMW-F3 and my PXW-FS7 with them and they're great people. If you call them you'll get a human you can talk with about your situation. As a second company, you might try Showcase in Atlanta. Again, smaller shop, real humans will talk to you.

Good luck!

I second Viddovation, EC Pro is great to deal with... I believe these rumors are false, too. I think they stem from someone on twitter who said they heard from B&H that shipments stop, but every dealer I've spoken with say they haven't heard that and still expect shipments soon.

Thanks Guys!

We also have an event coming up Tuesday, Nov 25.

Checkout the details

If you are looking to Pre-order and build a PXW-FS7 package, please contact us at sales@ecprovideo.com
No Deposit Required.

Shipping updates: I think this week there should be a few coming in to Dealers. After speaking to Sony Product Managers at CCW NY, we hope to get a large shipment by Thanksgiving week (24th-26th), if not, Sony USA has been telling us that the large shipment should be in first weeks of December. When we get tracking numbers from Sony, we contact our customers immediately.
Don't forget that Sony's 0% / 12 months financing program applies to the FS7.

Placed my order 9/12 morning it was announced with Abel Cine NY. No word yet. Got a shoot on Dec 1st. Really hoping it comes in by then.

Did you order bare body or the kit from Abel? Dubious you would see the kit before Dec. 1. If body only, hopefully yours will come soon.

Hey,

How about streaming the event for those of use not in your area? It might convice some of us who is the best dealer.

Thanks,
Robert

I ordered with Abel the day after camera was announced and so far not a word. A dealer I know who does millions with them every year - just got theirs and never even ordered one. That's business and I understand it, but I wonder if ordering with a big company like Abel who has lots of big clients was a smart move. Regardless I would be surprised if you ordered today and get it by the first - who knows. I should have a camera for rent in December because I'm going in for surgery next week t.. Won't get to use till january probably! :-(

Speaking as an end user, I really wouldn't suggest pre-ordering with Abel Cine unless you have a personal relationship in the company and can get them to answer questions about the queue for you. Their policy is a $1,000 non-refundable (transferable only) deposit and you're at the back of the line. Other vendors are taking orders with smaller refundable deposits ($500) or no deposit at all, and their list may be shorter to boot.

Don't get me wrong - I buy from big shops like B&H all the time for their wide selection of stocked items, but because of the way Sony handles initial camera distribution, you don't really get better service ordering from the big shops on preorders like this. If you're spending $10k+, I assure you, there are vendors where a human will complete the transaction with you personally by email and phone and that gives me considerably more peace of mind.

To those who have planned paid shoots around this camera - I feel for you, but I think we've seen this slow roll-out pattern enough times now to know better. That said, if someone desperately needs a rental, my November/December is currently pretty edit heavy/field light so my FS7 could be available.

+2 (cents)

I should be more precise. I have heard from them. They assigned me a rep who has emailed etc and asked about cards etc. Just no word on when and now I know that big guns from first. i used to order from Snader in San Rafael and I had a personal relationship and knew where I was on the cu, but they'e gone. Doesn't really matter to me anymore since I can't use it for a month and a half./

We're working on it! This event we might only be able to record the event and upload it the following day. Our store is going through some renovations (we're building a bigger studio in our facilities for workshops and studio rentals). We have some great things brewing!

I'll post a live stream link or pre-recorded video of the FS7 event in the forums.

Good deal, I am amazed at how many events are not streamed.

quick update. B&H said they are expecting mine to arrive 12/10. I pre-ordered 9/19. Could be good news for people who pulled the trigger sooner than me.

Quick update ordered the FS7 from Jigsaw24(UK) 3pm yesterday and I got it delivered 10am today :)

Now loads of manual reading and test shooting before a 2 day shoot next week.

Oh mah Glob, wut?

Seriously, though. Congrats. If UK people are in a rush to get one, maybe they ought to give Jigsaw24 a ring.

Just got an email from Abel Cine that mine comes in next week. Unfortunately I go in for hernia surgery the same week and will be down for a month. Damn!

I got mine a few weeks ago. I too buy a ton from B&H but my local dealer, Rule Boston Camera, had far more ability to get it in early. Of course I had to justify to Sony why I needed it to get it early (an apparent common practice with Sony and others for cameras on allocation- which I find asinine- but I did get it. It's not evenly distributed at all in the early days. Sony picks and chooses based on marketing wishes for maximizing exposure.

i should add I pre ordered on announcement day. That helped.

edit: I don't see deliveries slowing down. There's no evidence of that. The dial issue seems software related. For example, alpha lenses on sony's adapter (one of them) don't show the behavior. Metabones adapter and Sony lenses soon. I also see the same issue using dial for gain. I pray they fix it soon; it's hyper annoying.

I just got off the phone with my dealer in Canada and they talked to Sony and there was no word of a slow down in deliveries. I would guess its all firmware based anyway.

I was told cameras would start to land in Canada at the end of this week and pre-orders will start to be filled with more cameras coming the following week. Seems like around Nov 28 is a date a lot of people are hearing.
