That's one heck of a mark up!
Yes...but that's the very definition of supply and demand isn't it.

I don't know what their policies are, but I'd suggest trying E.C. Pro based in New York. I bought my PMW-F3 and my PXW-FS7 with them and they're great people. If you call them you'll get a human you can talk with about your situation. As a second company, you might try Showcase in Atlanta. Again, smaller shop, real humans will talk to you.
Good luck!
I second Viddovation, EC Pro is great to deal with... I believe these rumors are false, too. I think they stem from someone on twitter who said they heard from B&H that shipments stop, but every dealer I've spoken with say they haven't heard that and still expect shipments soon.

We also have an event coming up Tuesday, Nov 25.

Shipping updates: I think this week there should be a few coming in to Dealers. After speaking to Sony Product Managers at CCW NY, we hope to get a large shipment by Thanksgiving week (24th-26th), if not, Sony USA has been telling us that the large shipment should be in first weeks of December. When we get tracking numbers from Sony, we contact our customers immediately.
Don't forget that Sony's 0% / 12 months financing program applies to the FS7.
Speaking as an end user, I really wouldn't suggest pre-ordering with Abel Cine unless you have a personal relationship in the company and can get them to answer questions about the queue for you. Their policy is a $1,000 non-refundable (transferable only) deposit and you're at the back of the line. Other vendors are taking orders with smaller refundable deposits ($500) or no deposit at all, and their list may be shorter to boot.
Don't get me wrong - I buy from big shops like B&H all the time for their wide selection of stocked items, but because of the way Sony handles initial camera distribution, you don't really get better service ordering from the big shops on preorders like this. If you're spending $10k+, I assure you, there are vendors where a human will complete the transaction with you personally by email and phone and that gives me considerably more peace of mind.
To those who have planned paid shoots around this camera - I feel for you, but I think we've seen this slow roll-out pattern enough times now to know better. That said, if someone desperately needs a rental, my November/December is currently pretty edit heavy/field light so my FS7 could be available.
Hey,
How about streaming the event for those of use not in your area? It might convice some of us who is the best dealer.
Thanks,
Robert
We're working on it! This event we might only be able to record the event and upload it the following day. Our store is going through some renovations (we're building a bigger studio in our facilities for workshops and studio rentals). We have some great things brewing!
I'll post a live stream link or pre-recorded video of the FS7 event in the forums.
quick update. B&H said they are expecting mine to arrive 12/10. I pre-ordered 9/19. Could be good news for people who pulled the trigger sooner than me.
Body only or with kit lens?
Quick update ordered the FS7 from Jigsaw24(UK) 3pm yesterday and I got it delivered 10am today
Now loads of manual reading and test shooting before a 2 day shoot next week.
